@MrNunesteach@KDebodt If PD is something that I chose to learn definitely F2F with lots of collab/network time - present content, stand back, watch group create the magic of its success - if division directed and forced to take it, likely irrelevant time waster: online please
Honoured to listen to Chief Cadmus Delorme at the @stoonteachers convention today. One word comes to mind over and over again. LEADERSHIP!! We should all aspire to this level of intelligence, grace and passion.
@zbpipe I use the break out rooms in teams and they just have their mic’s on. When we do an online escape room I record it so I can use the recording as a time-keeper to determine the winner
Yes. From holding your jaw out to keep your mask away from your mouth when you talk. You can get a plastic cage that sits over your nose like a dog muzzle. This helps stop the headaches
Are headaches a common symptom of mask wearing? Getting them daily behind one ear. Perhaps it's just a combination of all the stress. Can't help but think wearing the mask all day is a contributing factor. #onted
Wednesday, September 30th is Orange Shirt Day. Let us all work together for justice, reconciliation and healing for those affected by residential schools. https://t.co/f3H7gYc3tN
My thoughts on the 1st week back with students:
- staggered starts helped a lot.
- teachers are amazingly creative.
- EA’s & support staff are courageous.
- our superintendents and senior admin. are tireless.
- and ultimately, kids make everything better.

Dropping our shoulders, and gently remembering that our little people have been navigating these same unchartered waters right alongside us is critical to where we will be, as a community, in the weeks and months ahead. The fear and anxiety you’ve felt, they likely have too.
If Mr Rogers and Bill Nye understood the need to limit their productions to 30 mins, shouldn't school districts know that virtual classes should as well? Just ask your teachers how focused and engaged they are feeling after an hour on a zoom meeting?
It is extremely important for educators to work on their mental & physical health right now. Whether school is in person or virtual, we are dealing with stress that we have never encountered. Take time for yourself daily/weekly - read, walk, rest, spend time with loved ones.
The answer in the process of systemic change, is reminding teachers that all we need you to do (even behind a mask) is to keep showing up. Show up, look our babies in the eyes and say, I’ve got you. Let’s take this one step at a time.
We all have a job to make this the most memorable year on the planet. If you think this is anyone else's problem, you're wrong. If you think this is the government's responsibility, or your administration's, check yourself. Drop your shoulders, and step in with your whole heart.
I've never felt more connected to and engaged with a keynote speaker as I feel listening to @DrJCarrington, and we've had some pretty amazing speakers #STA2020
