In consultation with @KFLAPH , LDSB will be cancelling all outdoor extra-curricular activities and sporting events for the remainder of the day due to worsening air quality in the region, and students will remain indoors until dismissal. Read full update https://t.co/j3hZQHFYvK
Rita Pierson famously remarked, “children don't learn from people they don't like.” They also don't learn from adults they don’t think like them. How do our words, facial expressions, and body language communicate kindness and caring? #LeadInclusion#EdChat#SEL#Inclusion
So @fordnation has LOST every court challenge and should repay the tax $ of ours he spent fighting them all. Retweet if you'd like to see those $ go to housing/healthcare/education...
I am tired of people who have no idea what schools are like today, judging my work environment. I will vote NO because we are underfunded and it is not sustainable. Thank you @waltonmom for trying. Sorry you were pressured to bring it to a vote and not to the sidewalks. #onted
It is disappointing that @fordnation@Sflecce did not offer more services to students. This will impact students negatively. Both those students who need supports & those who don’t. Classrooms will be interrupted and teachers and EAs burn out. Let’s see what the CUPE workers vote.
@Sflecce "We will never walk out on Ontario students"??
Except when you cut autism funding.
Except when you threw money away by trying to bribe parents with $200.
Except when you wouldn't negotiate over the summer to avoid this.
Except when you cut education budgets.
No one is buying it
A reminder, as Ont worry about what Monday might look like, @Sflecce makes $165,000-$185,000, receives enhanced benefits, & a housing allowance of over $2300 per month for a few months of "working". He is tweeting out pics of himself from home, NOT at the bargaining table. Why?
I understand that other education unions are not yet in a legal strike position, but moving back to indefinite synchronous learning while #CUPE holds the line doesn't seem like #ontedsolidarity to me. Anyone else agree? #onted
Protect yourself, your family, and your friends by practicing infection prevention measures such as: staying home when you are sick, sneezing/coughing into your elbow, frequent hand hygiene with soap and water, and masking when returning to school after being at home sick.
This is happening daily! Kids are coughing their heads off with no masks. Also, retuning to school after being sick and NOT masking for 10 days as directed to by public health.
BREAKING: Statement from Education Minister Stephen Lecce:
“CUPE has agreed to withdraw their strike action and come back to the negotiating table. In return, at the earliest opportunity, we will revoke Bill 28 in its entirety and be at the table”
#onpoli#onted
Whether you think @Sflecce triggered the strike or failed to prevent it, the fact is, schools are closed and this was not inevitable. In fact, he promised they'd be open until June.
Why does tax payer, parent-funded @Sflecce still have a job, exactly? #OntEd#onpoli#FireLecce
Ministry of Education (who is also responsible for Child Care) sent a memo out last week directing centres to deny school age children space during the school day.
Because it is all about the kids, right?
Lecce gives not a fig about kids or families or clearly anyone’s rights
