If you told me in 2012 a few years after we drafted Taylor Hall and a few more years after the Canes beat us in 2006 that I’d be cheering for Hall on the Canes, I would’ve called you crazy but I guess that’s what happens when a greater evil awaits
Non ball knowers like this are to blame for Canada not winning the Olympics.
They make claims that Bouchard doesn’t play defensively but don’t actually watch the games. They feed into the narrative until Canada only has one puck mover on the blue line after Morrissey is injured
Canada is down 5-4 to NORWAY with 9 minutes left. And I need to say this.
This is a CANADA problem. And it has three names.
Darnell Nurse. Evan Bouchard. Cam Talbot.
Let's start with the defense.
Nurse and Bouchard together on the ice is a DISASTER. It doesn't matter who you pair them with. Every time they're out there, Canada is defending with two pylons who have zero awareness of what's happening behind them.
Bouchard in the offensive zone? Fine. The guy can move the puck. He can quarterback a power play. Nobody is arguing that.
But the SECOND that puck gets cleared out of the zone? He has NO IDEA what he's doing. None. He's lost. He's spinning. He's watching the play happen around him like a spectator.
And Nurse? Same story. Different chapter. Edmonton has been living with this defensive liability for YEARS. Every Oilers fan watching this game right now is having flashbacks. This is the same movie they've seen 82 games a season. Nurse getting walked. Bouchard getting caught flat footed. The whole world is watching it now.
Now Talbot.
Three goals from distance that are absolute MUFFINS. Shots that should NEVER be going in at this level. These are saves that a Liiga goalie makes in his sleep. A DEL goalie stops those blindfolded. But Talbot is letting them through like he's playing beer league on a Sunday morning.
Meanwhile Norway is playing the 10X style. Carrying deep. Attacking inside the dots. Using the space behind the net. Back to front passes. D jumping into the play. THAT is how you play hockey.
Canada has Crosby. They have Celebrini. They have the talent to win this game.
But talent means NOTHING when your back end is a revolving door and your goalie can't stop a beach ball from 40 feet.
Nine minutes. Figure it out. Let's go Canada. 🇨🇦

@Asnow119@itsWozzz We went into this post season thinking that this was the deepest Oilers team yet. Can’t let recency bias of 4 injured centres (97, 29, 16, 19) not believe that this team is a few small adjustments from contending
Triple checked an assumption with an AI tool to make sure it wasn't hallucinating an answer, and the AI tool gave me sass like I was an annoying coworker asking the same question over and over again.
@connermcjesus97@TonyBrarOTV While I love Samanski, the Ducks have a pretty high powered PP
I think we give Henrique game one for his PK/ DZ faceoff abilities
