Our latest @NAOorguk report on Homelessness published today. Homelessness has reached record levels and we recommend a cross-departmental approach is taken to tackling it, along with a long-term strategy and associated public targets.

@nibsbuses Had no idea buses were late but found out the hard way this morning that you had changed the timetable on route 49. Not beyond the wit of man to think that you need to let people know about these changes.
@nibsbuses might be a good idea to communicate timetable changes on school bus routes. I’m sure that would have saved a lot of grief all around and less irate emails to your office.
Early start this morning to discuss our report published today on Reforming adult social care. We conclude that government has a long way to go and some significant risks to manage if it is to successfully deliver its reform ambitions.
Two years into its ten-year plan to improve adult social care, government faces numerous challenges, ranging from spending to delivery.
It has scaled back the short-term ambitions set out in its December 2021 White Paper.

@nibsbuses it is not ok that your bus service is consistently late. Number 49 is 30 minutes late picking up this morning. No information on your twitter pages about it either. It’s really not good enough.
@jamesrstanhope@c2c_Rail I had the same problem re not seeing Laindon come up - hadn’t seen the tweet and so ended up joining the long queues to get a paper ticket and missing my train. Not a good start to a Monday morning.
The government has clear targets for increasing active travel - that is, walking 🚶♀️, cycling 🚴♀️ or travelling in a wheelchair 👨🦽
But our latest report finds that these targets are likely to be missed.
Find out why: https://t.co/cc5NepQDqD
Look out for our next reports on adult social care which will set out the current pressures and challenges and update on progress made against 2021 white paper commitments and since our 2021 report on adult social care markets
Adult social care remains one of the largest areas of local government spending.
We have two upcoming reports on adult social care: first an overview of current pressures facing social care; the second looking at progress made by @DHSCgovuk since 2021.

A lack of audit evidence & shortcomings in financial control & governance meant @GarethDaviesNAO was unable to provide an audit opinion on @UKHSA accounts. For this & other reasons, he also issued a qualified audit opinion on 2021-22 @DHSCgovuk accounts: https://t.co/bLYCNbiqYX
For an update on local audit delivery, including government action to improve timeliness of reporting since the Redmond Review, read our report: https://t.co/EELN9LBad9 #localaudit
Had a great time in Derby representing @NAOorguk at the Commissioner’s Conference and speaking about the future of adult social care. Thanks for the invitation @nccTc
New Integrated Care Systems are joining up local health and care organisations in England.
They have been broadly welcomed.
But wider pressures pose significant risks to them achieving their aims.
