🚨 Wayne Rooney on Declan Rice's set-pieces that inspired England's 4-2 victory:
🗣️ “For the whole of last season, people mocked Arsenal's set-pieces. They called them boring, said they were ruining football and claimed they could never win the biggest trophies playing that way.
Now look at England.
Declan Rice is delivering those same quality dead balls and they've played a huge part in a 4-2 win.
I've watched this World Cup closely and one thing stands out: Arsenal players have consistently produced dangerous set-pieces, with several leading directly to goals.
Maybe the issue was never the set-pieces.
Maybe people were simply frustrated because their own teams didn't have players capable of executing them at that level.
Football fans love effective set-pieces when they're winning games. They only complain when someone else is better at them.”
English journalists: "Mikel Arteta and set pieces are ruining football."
Same English journalists when England rely on another set piece goal: "Thomas Tuchel perfectly exploiting the small margins. Great coaching."
@EduardoHagn Why are you so negative!? Ødegaard is one of the best midfielder in the world, but he has been unfortunate with injuries this season. Give him a break!
Be positive and support the club and players rather be a f@$%= negative all the time!
@FabrizioRomano God German referees...what a joke!
Madueke should have a penalty, but when you have Qatar money behind your back you know what you get! A shame!
Why would Manchester City even dare to request a fixture swap from the Premier League?
It’s not just rude it screams entitlement.
Arsenal have competed on all fronts this season and never asked for special treatment.
No excuses. No shortcuts.
City needs to stop this arrogance.
3rd Feb when the PL moved Wolves v Arsenal a mnth forward (same reason City v C Palace had to be rescheduled) it meant Arsenal had to play 4 games in 10 days with 3 of them being away games (we ended up dropping 4 points) I don’t remember any handing city the title headlines!
Arsenal games being moved by Sky, despite protests.
Meanwhile, City in “negotiations” with the EPL to move their games around to benefit them for a more favourable run in.
This league has never been more shambolic in my opinion.
Arsenal are literally about to play Wednesday-Saturday-Tuesday (3 games in 7 days) and two of those matches are UCL semi-finals. Don’t see why City should get special treatment here in the same sort of scenario?
Man City are not worried about Crystal Palace at home.
They’re worried about going away to a Bournemouth side coming off 10+ days of rest, with City having played the FA Cup final 3 days prior.
It’s a disgrace if the PL swaps Palace and Bournemouth rescheduling.
In the 10 years from 2008/09 - 2017/18, net spend according to Transfermarkt:
€1.194.69 million - Man City
€659.12 million - Man United
€217.84 million - Liverpool
€216.27 million Arsenal
Man City’s net spend was greater than Man United, Liverpool, and Arsenal combined.
Of the 115 charges against Manchester City 35 of them are failing to cooperate with the investigation and hiding information.
Zero chance the Premier League should be doing them any favours.
They’re cheats.
