Some of the most fun I had with politics in D&D was the parliament of Glantri. Here you can fight for votes, charm fellow members of parliament with magic, use doppelgangers and illusion spells to imitate a member for their votes. And it was all considered OK.
The living Campaign was so much fun.
it is supposed to be epic. Just like when Wargaming went all skirmish and its no fun anymore. When everything is miniaturized , watered, down, and infantilized it goes from Hobby to candyland.
Really digging the art in the new D&D/Stranger Things set. Black and white, old school feel. I also really like the first adventure and what I've read of the others. D&D is really nailing boxed sets these days.
Good TTRPG design acknowledges that there are two types of gamers. The 1% who actually read the rules and the 99% who rely on vibes. If you create rules with this understanding, you can make life much, much easier for that 1%:
