I have many thoughts on the engagement vs. isolation debate that @aishabbwahab has reopened among Afghans. I’ll write them when I have more time.

But one thing immediately stands out.

Why do NRF supporters and diaspora activists in Washington and London seem to think that Aisha Wahab, an Afghan-American politician, owes them ideological obedience simply because of her ancestory?

You claim to "fight for freedom of speech and expression," yet the moment an Afghan expresses a view outside your political line, you start your coordinated twitter-lynching via your WhatsApp groups.

I often make the mistake of having false hope that some day, Afghans of different political and ideological persuations can overcome their differences and make a collective effort to improve the lives of our compatriots back home.

But then I see prominent figures eulogising a pederast kidnapper and extortionist like he was a saintly figure. Then I lose all hope in them. I blame myself for having such high expectation of people. They're all a lost cause.

Some Tajik nationalists claim that the Taliban are stealing the resources of Badakhshan, simply because the Taliban allow anyone in Afghanistan or the world, to invest in the mining sector of Badakhshan.

But the same Tajik nationalists were dead silent when thugs and militias were stealing the resources of Badakhshan illegally during the twenty years of occupation, and there is no records available to show how much they stole, and what happened to the stollen money. Most of course built mansions abroad, and then when their fragile existence under the occupation ended, they all fled to their mansions abroad, whether it was Turkey, or UAE, or Tajikistan, or France, or Australia…

Not a cent of that money was spent in Badakhshan, for twenty years, Badakhshan was one of the most underdeveloped provinces in Afghanistan.

Now they are claiming that Badakhshan is being robbed because the government allows people to invest, build roads, help with development, agriculture, hospitals, schools..

Why do these Tajik nationalists act this way? Why do they lie this way? The answer is simple, they lost all their privileges to steal, to rob and pillage, to terrorize innocent people, to drive around in armored vehicles and lick American boots.

They will be remembered forever in Afghanistan as traitors, as “Watan Forosh” and “jasoos” scums.
