This👇🏼 … the reality of the messages we are made to believe about ourselves in the psychiatric system. As I said on Wed at an event with ASW - the belief I’m a second grade citizen is so hard to undo after over 30 years as someone deemed ‘mentally ill’. It is exhausting!
Boundary setting plays an important role at work. Boundaries give us a sense of control/agency, clarify our responsibilities, preserve our energy & let us live our values & standards. It's not just about individual boundaries but how we understand & support each other's boundaries as a team. Often "boundaries" means time boundaries or home/life balance, but there are multiple other boundaries we should take account of as well. Great piece from @Haypsych:

Micro management is a big red flag-
Individuals using positional power over people in oppressive ways
General view that staff cant be trusted & must be monitored
High levels of systemic threat leading to anxiety & controlling behvrs
The scale of this is huge, we must face it.
How to spot a culture problem? A few signs to look deeper:
- staff seem scared when asked to speak honestly
- boards meet positive staff only who all tell polished stories
- reducing staff survey returns reveal declining levels of trust & wellbeing
- relentless spin
A 🧵…….
It is now 24 hours since Israel invaded al-Shifa hospital. No sprawling Hamas command-and-control center. No arms caches in the tunnels. No secret passageways. No nothing except: DEAD BABIES IN INCUBATORS WITHOUT FUEL.
Our petition for a #CeasefireNOW is gaining a new signature every 2 seconds right now.
As doctors, we are speaking up on humanitarian grounds. Please lend your voice to ours - we *must* make enough noise to push politicians into action🚨
