The start of the #FIFAWorldCup reminds me of the most satisfying project I've ever worked on in South Africa - Township TV! We created 22 fan parks across the country to provide free education and entertainment 365 days a year. It was creating jobs, getting kids off the street and changing lives until the demand for BEE and kickbacks ended the social responsibility project after seven years. @elonmusk https://t.co/T1r42ezZLY
I’m heartbroken to hear that we lost Peabo Bryson today. His incredible voice and his kind spirit embodied the beauty of song and performance. He was so wonderful and generous to me all those years ago, when we recorded Beauty and the Beast. He made me so comfortable, as I was just learning to sing in English. He will remain for me always as a real symbol of the joy that music has brought to my life. His voice and his talent will be missed…
My heart is with your family, and may you rest in peace, Peabo.
Love,
Celine xx…

Watching @ShreyasIyer15 perform that acrobatic fielding to assist in taking the “team catch “ made me appreciate how fielding has evolved since my retirement. For a long time, I felt like the “father of fielding”, but watching these modern athletes with their timing and awareness on the boundary line, makes me feel like the “grandfather of fielding”! I spent 99% of my career fielding in the inner circle, and when I started working as a fielding coach, there was no focus on the modern day “hotspots” on the boundaries. It was only when I started working with @mipaltan and saw Kieron Pollard, and then Glenn Maxwell, performing these incredible “airborne saves” on the boundaries that we started focusing on not only taking catches off balls that were already beyond the rope, but even saving the ball from going for a sixer, and forcing the batters to run only 1 or 2. With impact players transforming the way that batters can continuously attack the bowling, even with the loss of 4-5 wickets, bowlers need to be backed up by their fielders, and Shreyas’ spectacular“catch and release” was a perfect example of that. But let’s face it; when your head coach is @RickyPonting, one of the greatest fielders in the game, it should not come as a great surprise to see such incredible feats in the field!
@JontyRhodes8@ShreyasIyer15 Never take away the impact your dedication to fielding had to bring young South Africans back to cricket .... we all fell in love with cricket again becos of you. Be it the Ul-Haq run out or the first usage of 3rd umpire. Those memories live with us forever. #legend
Jimmy Hennesy was my dad.
I only had 6 little years with him but they were some of the best years of my life.
My dad a was a beautiful person.
Quiet and very funny.
He kept himself to himself. No-one had a bad word to say about him nor he them.
He had lots of friends and was liked by all who knew him.
He was a good looking man, loved clothes and always had the best of the best and was so vain. He is well remembered in our house for fixing his hair in the mirror every time he left.
My dad was a mod with all the attire, including a green Lambretta.
His passion was LFC. He went to games in the UK and abroad.
Bill Shankly was his hero as well as of course our King Kenny and Ian Rush.
My dad referred to me as Red, White and Gold which was the colours of our kit at the time. He was over the moon when I was born.
I think it’s fair to say little Charlotte Hennessy and LFC equalised.
I know a different side of Jimmy Hennessy. I know of him as daddy, the man who I adored. He threw himself into parenthood. He would changed my nappies, did his share of feeds and he loved taking me out in my pram.
He worked hard to provide for me as a self-employed plasterer and to this day the smell of plaster reminds me of my dad.
What my dad’s mates don’t know is that he would let me play with his hair and put bobbles in. I would paint his nails.
There are no words to described how much I miss him.
My heart broke the day my dad died and losing him broke the heart of my family too.
Whenever I was hurt and needed a hug my dad was there with a hug. But when my dad was hurt and needed a hug I couldn’t give him one.
Not one goes by when I don’t think about him.
Today, my dad is also a granddad to my four boys.
At times when Hillsborough consumes me and makes my heart ache they make me realise life is worth living and that my dad lives on through us.
I am incomplete.
We had so much to do together, so many more memories to make and Hillsborough took that away from us.
Hillsborough took my dad away from me like he was nothing and nobody, but he was everything to me.
Hillsborough stole my childhood from me and took away my best friend.
It left me in a life of anger, bitterness and depression.
My dad will always be my hero, and I will always be a daddy’s girl. no-one can take that away from me.

10 years ago today, I lived every boy’s dream in a Red shirt.
Scoring against Borussia Dortmund in the Europa League at Anfield — the lights, the noise, the Kop roaring as we fought back in one of the greatest European nights this club has ever seen.
That goal, that moment, that Liverpool shirt… it’s etched in my soul forever.
Still gives me goosebumps. Thank you to every teammate, every fan, and everyone who made that night magic.
This one’s for the memories that never fade. ❤️ You’ll Never Walk Alone
Good luck tonight LFC. BELIEVE!
One of the finest batters of his generation and a true Proteas great. His 18,553 international runs place him third on South Africa’s all-time list, and was he was the first from his nation to score a Test triple-hundred.
His 27 ODI centuries are a South African record, and he remains the fastest to 3000, 4000, 6000 and 7000 runs in men’s ODIs.
