New paper out! This is an excellent project led by Léanne Clemencin (not in X) investigating the impact of nest visits on incubating Great tit females.

Thrilled to share our new article with my amazing colleagues: "Birds & bats outperform ants in top-down regulation of arthropods across strata of a Japanese temperate forest." 🦇🐦📜
Challenging fieldwork, but a big accomplishment!

But we did manage to collect some data on a few breeding females. Enough to get an idea of how they incubate and when they shade the eggs because of sunlight and high temperatures. Have a look at the paper!
New paper published! A great collaboration with @kiwi_sjc
"Open-cup nesters in the Kalahari: Incubation and egg-shading behaviour in passerines cannot be detected with temperature dataloggers during hot periods". https://t.co/njwcjJ005x 👇
It was risky, only three months and we needed some rain to facilitate breeding in sufficient numbers. I was not that lucky because there was a severe drought that year.

Last week, my students sent out preprint about our experiment in Tomakomai in Japan. Pawing the path for follow-up, less methodologically focused results of our ERC grant. Congratulations mainly to @ESivault and Jan Kollross as to two main authors with equal contribution.
