I’m a conservative by choice. I believe in the Constitution, the rule of law, and holding people who break the law accountable.

But explain this to me:

Why does it seem like the people who follow the rules get punished, while the people who exploit the system keep getting rewarded?

If the little we’ve already uncovered — just the tip of the iceberg of government waste, fraud, and abuse — hasn’t woken you up, I don’t know what will.

Billions of taxpayer dollars disappear into programs, contracts, and bureaucracies, and too often nobody follows the money to the people responsible.

Meanwhile, the working man pays his taxes, follows the rules, raises his family, goes to work, and is told there’s no money for him.

Maybe we need a Hillbilly Mafia Foundation.

Instead of sending billions through endless layers of bureaucracy, consultants, and organizations that somehow lose the money, we’d help Americans who are actually struggling: daycare for working families, help for the elderly, food for families in genuine need, and help keeping hardworking people in their homes. And we’d keep an eye on every dollar.

That’s what government is supposed to do: serve the American people, not itself.

I don’t want government controlling my life. I want it to do the job it was created to do — protect the country, enforce the law, protect our rights, and answer to the people paying the bills.

Until Washington remembers who it works for, maybe it’s time for a bunch of rednecks to remind them.

We work for a living.
We pay the bills.
We follow the rules.
And we’re damn tired of being treated like fools.
