Back when I was still living with my parents, anytime I came back from work, I hardly brought snacks or gifts home for my younger ones. My younger sister, on the other hand, always bought plenty of things for them.
So naturally, my parents felt she was the generous one and I was stingy.
But the truth was, I wasn’t stingy. I was a young guy trying to survive. I had to provide for myself and, most times, for the friends around me too. Even the daily feeding allowance my dad gave me, I’d still use part of it or sometimes all of it to feed my guys.
The little 2k or 5k I managed to make back then was usually gone before I even got home.
Fast forward to today, I’m the one everyone brings the million bills to😭. Even my said younger sister who was the “super kid.”
Sometimes people judge you without knowing the responsibilities you’re carrying. Everyone’s journey is different, and life has a way of changing people’s perspective.
