@maartenbakkerch Het moet eerst nog veel erger worden. Meer migratie, economische malaise, onveiligheid, islamisering, huizenmarkt en energie. Dan pas gaat er echt iets veranderen.
Project Rialto by the BIS was just released.
The focus is G20 X Border payments
They haven't published the technical docs yet, but this has potential to be the BIGGEST for $QNT.
Bigger than Rosalind, Agora, UK RLN & more?
Let's find out.
We'll go back in time to dissect this.
So to start off, as we can see from the description, it's currently quite generalized
The focus is on advancing cross border payments, but that could be argued for any multi party CBDC.
After all, cross border is essential in finance, that doesn't guarantee Quant or any DLT really.
But when we piece it together on facts from the past... We get something quite interesting.
Keep in mind how they mention the G20.
The G20 is the intergovernmental forum comprising 19 sovereign countries + European Union & African Union.
They are one of the most powerful bodies today.
One of their focuses has also been advancing cross border payments, as referenced by the BIS.
We can also tell Project Rialto will likely be another pretty big collaboration from the notes.
It'll include BIS Eurosystem & Singapore Centres along with various other partnered central banks.
As the Eurosystem is the collaborative between the European Central Bank & various other central banks in Europe, we can expect multiple EU parties.
Additionally they state partnerships with several central banks, another telling sign.
This would also make sense given what we've seen out of Project Agora's 7 central bank collaboration.
As these CBDCs are evolving we're seeing more open participation across the board.
However, that now brings up the question of how this operation will be carried out.
With little evidence currently on the Project Rialto page, there isn't a lot to go off of.
But looking back at history and tying the dots... We've found some pretty interesting ties.
Let's highlight a couple important points that will be important throughout this thread:
• Project is solving G20 X Border issue
• Involves Eurosystem & Singapore
If we go back to about 1 year ago exactly, we see a press release by the BIS that also references the G20 and cross border payments!
On May 30 2023, the BIS had begun collaboration to create a cross border programme using APIs!
They mention how it is a key objective of the G20 & how we need HARMONIZATION of APIs for cross border.
This sounds exactly like what we're seeing with APIs harmonizing with ISO20022 and other payment systems for DLT x legacy interoperability.
What's also interesting is that this report came out just 15 days before Project Rosalind's report did.
Rosalind was the first to officially show the use of harmonized APIs in their multi tiered CBDC model with Overledger APIs.
By this time Rosalind was already done testing & they were finalizing the report.
In other words, they'd already seen the efficiency & innovations brought by harmonized APIs.
Then at the end of this publication, they mention how the targeted date for completion of API harmonization would be some time in July 2024.
It's June 5 2024 today... Rialto just published the early drafts of their initiative with no tech architecture.
Put the pieces together and it all starts to make sense.
• Project Rialto = wCBDC for cross border
• Project Rialto inspired from G20
• Project Rialto announced June 4 2024
• G20 X border API begins May 2023
• G20 X border API expected delivery in July 2024
• SATP advancing in IETF standards
• ISO TC 307 subgroups finalized 2024
It's literally lining up PERFECTLY, now it's on CPMI & APEX end to ensure delivery!
This isn't a secret either, it seems that various other financial publications and consultancy firms also recognize the API harmony coming to the industry.
Below are screenshots from both Moody's Analytics and the Financial Stability Board (FSB).
Moody's just echos what the BIS mentions on API harmonization delivered by July 2024.
But the contents from the FSB are definitely worth looking further into.
There are 2 things to look at here, they list a description on the initiative and then the expected timeline.
FEB 2023-JUL 2024
Essentially they're looking to set API standards for harmonizing bodies, interoperability of systems and information, etc.
So they're saying this began in Feb 2023 & is expected to end in July 2024... Once again lines up perfectly.
We had also seen SATP officially added into IETF in late Jan 2023, which officially made it a standardized Internet scale working group.
APR 2023-DEC 2024
This one is discussing how the BIS will collaborate with other central bank parties in testing these harmonized API concepts in Proof of Concepts & pilots.
So let's look at a few API CBDCs that we've seen since the starting date in April 2023.
• Project Rosalind used Overledger
• Project Sela inspired by Rosalind
• Korean Won used SATP + Unified Ledger
• Digital Tenge used SATP API Gateways
• Israel CBDC sandbox to use SATP
• Digital Dollar backing SATP
• Digital Shekel took Sela's model
• eJPY inspired by Rosalind
• Agora using SATP + Unified Ledger
•
Now, some of these aren't exactly BIS CBDCs, but rather CBDCs that other national bodies have begun testing.
Which just further goes to show the industry focus and realization of the inevitable harmonized future by APIs.
But once again, it seems the FSB have predicted this to a tee with the accuracy of timelines.
Though "orchestrated" may be the more accurate word as opposed to "predicted".
The pictures been clear all along.
It really does seem like since Project Rosalind that the focus had really shifted to API enabled CBDC models.
Finally theres one last hint I wanted to share within the details of Project Rialto.
The BIS is usually very meticulous in naming their CBDC projects.
For example:
Rosalind was named after Rosalind Franklin, whose work was key to understanding DNA sequencing.
Project Rosalind in return was key for understanding DLT sequencing across various layers.
At the end of Project Rialto they list:
"Rialto in Venice is both a bridge connecting the two sides of the Grand Canal (symbolising the cross-border payment infrastructure), and a marketplace (symbolising the automatic FX settlement using wCBDC)."
I'll leave you to decipher what this may mean,
Don't worry if you get stuck, we'll be saving the rest of this rabbit hole for another time.😉
This has all been written in the stars since Rosalind.
