For those who claim self determination and autonomy through referendum is not in Nigeria constitution.

Please read this : -

The Nigerian constitution by implication allows Biafrans or any cohesive group or aggrieved Nigerians to seek self Determination and autonomy as a people .

This law is specifically provided under articles 1 &20 of the African chapter on Human and peoples Rights, ratified by and domesticated by Nigeria in 1983 at CAP A9, Laws of Federation Nigeria,2004.

Articles 1 and 20 of the African Charter on Human and Peoples' Rights establish core principles: Article 1 commits State Parties (like Nigeria) to recognize, promote, and protect human and peoples' rights, ensuring legal effect for the Charter in national law (as done via Nigeria's 1983 Act, Cap A9 LFN 2004).

Article 20 guarantees the right to self-determination and free disposal of natural resources for all peoples, allowing liberation struggles against foreign domination and affirming peoples' control over their wealth.

Article 1: General Principles (Duty to Recognize & Protect)

* Nigerian State must recognize the rights in the Charter, ensure their protection, and give them legal force within their domestic laws.

* Nigeria's Implementation: Nigeria ratified the Charter in 1983, and the African Charter on Human and Peoples' Rights (Ratification and Enforcement) Act (Cap A9, Laws of Federation Nigeria, 2004) makes its provisions directly applicable in Nigeria.

Article 20: Right to Self-Determination & Resources

* Self-Determination: All peoples have an inalienable right to determine their political status and pursue economic/social development freely.

* Anti-Colonial Struggle: Colonized or oppressed peoples can use any means recognized by the international community to achieve liberation.

* Resource Control: All peoples have the right to freely dispose of their wealth and natural resources in their own interest.

* State Duty: Nigeria and other State Parties must work to eliminate foreign exploitation of resources to benefit their peoples.

In essence, these articles mean Nigeria has a legal obligation, stemming from its ratification, to uphold the Charter's rights, ensuring that its laws and actions respect self-determination and the control of natural resources by its peoples.

3 Types of Kidnapping Going on in Nigeria:

1. CRIMINAL KIDNAPPING. Examples like: Express Kidnapping, involve kidnapping tactics that the victim is always the commodity. In Express Kidnapping, it comes swiftly and within days or weeks.

Tiger kidnapping: using someone as a decoy to get the prime target.

The victims are seen as commodities and sources of income that is why the victims are kept alive until money is exchanged. And when money isn't coming, they turn to organ harvesting using the victim as a scapegoat.

2. Political AND State sponsored kidnapping. This involves state actors like DSS, NIA etc example, the kidnapping and rendition of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

3. IDEOLOGY/ SEPARATIST KIDNAPPING: This involves an ideology that drives the perpetrators. This involves a separatist group or a terrorist group. Here, money isn't the main commodity but a path to send a message with their abduction and request for prison exchange or use the victim for propaganda purposes.
Example: The abduction of a pastor by Boko Haram terrorists in the North and maintains that they don't need ransom but to kill their victim on a live camera to send a religious jihadist message. That is an example of an ideology/separatist kidnapping and IPOB has not done kind of crime .

An officer in the back of a van with several young boys standing. He’s going through their phones one by one, even opening banking apps. That is criminal and illegal.

An officer inside a Hilux seized a traveler’s laptop while checking papers.
What legal right does any officer have to stop a traveler and confiscate a personal laptop?

3️⃣ Third video:
An officer asking the one inside the van to confirm the money he extorted from a traveler. In his exact words: “You don confirm the money?”

It’s sad that soldiers are now part of this criminality.

This is what innocent youths face every day along the Obowo road, 7 and half Amanze Junction, Imo State.

My Comments

It is behaviours such as these that are giving the Nigerian police a bad name. Rather than serving and protecting, they are oppressing the people. This is one of the reasons that many people don't like the Nigerian police. This resulted in some of the anger meted out to many officers during the EndSARS demonstrations. The police authorities should do something about these corrupt officers.

The biggest propaganda which our Ìgbò political elite have made popular In Nigeria is that "the young Ìgbò men asking for Biafra (as a political solution against Ìgbò oppression) are outrightly asking for another Biafran War."

This above stated narrative, is wrong, and has been the principal reason why the Nigerian armed forces always use extreme violence in Ị̀gbò land, any time our people rise up to demand for Biafra - they automatically see it as a call to arms against the Nigerian state. However, this is not true.

Many of our Ìgbò political elite, and their foreign sponsors, have refused to see the Neo-Biafran agitation as a call for justice, equity, and fairness towards Ndị Ị̀gbò, in Nigeria. They have refused to see the calls for Biafra as an outright rejection of the backwardness which Nigeria wears as a badge. They are blind to the plights of the people.

The call for Biafra, must be seen as what it is - a demand for an alternative route for Ndị Ìgbò to manifest their destiny and lead Africa to the light, and not a battle cry to arm ourselves and invade the Nigerian State.

Anyone, who points to "War" whenever the term Biafra is mentioned, is mischievous, and it is unfortunate that men like Orji Uzor Kalu who should know better, have chosen mischief and false labels against his people, all because he wants to please the Nigerian establishment, and remain relevant in the corridors of power.
