Dual-Oscilation - 1981.
Thinking graphically about patterns and movement this drawing helped transition the warped skulls from wire sculptures to formal artwork. I also produced two etchings at this time. The plates were recently rediscovered. A search for prints is ongoing.

Oscillations 1981 - Watercolor and Guache.
The interplay between the background and the warped skulls suggested movement. The shapes of the eye sockets represent oscillating movement.
Painted before digital capabilities, this piece is about to be reborn.

At a time when I was not doing artwork I fashioned skulls and skeletons from telephone wire out of boredom. This flyer from 1981 for an L A punk band, shows some of these sculptures. The wire frame skulls inspired me to draw and paint again after a long and painful dry spell.

The Genesis of this project. This watercolor painting was done in 1980 when I was 24. It was an experiment that grew from some wire sculptures I was making out of boredom and definitely has that 80's feel. Now 40 years later these pieces have come back to life!
