Since developing this scrappy MVP we’ve secured some institutional interest in running pilot programmes for deaf employees and deaf students
Foot in the door
Built an AI communication layer for deaf ↔ hearing conversations:
• Speech → text
• Tap to simplify & rephrase
• Intent + tone detection
• Text → voice
• Two-device sync

I‘m a deaf founder behind Deaf Hands Tech
i’m focusing on building comprehensive communication solutions for fellow deaf people
currently only using an ipad and iphone to vibe code an MVP so it’s scrappy as hell rn
Deaf Hands is creating an AI-powered platform that helps deaf people understand and follow real-time conversations by analysing speech, identifying speakers, and interpreting context.
I started Deaf Hands as an NFT project but the resources available to me didn’t really permit me to fully capitalise on the vision
With the rise of agents and progression of AI - the vision is more clearer:
Build the next generation of communication tools designed for deaf people first.
And when you design for accessibility first…
You often end up building better tools for everyone.
We’re just getting started.
Most technology for deaf people has focused on one idea:
translation.
Speech → text
Speech → sign language
Sign language → speech
But translation alone doesn’t solve the real problem.
🧵
AI is finally reaching the point where this becomes possible.
Speech recognition
Computer vision
Context understanding
Conversation modelling
Combined properly, these technologies can transform accessibility.
The long-term vision for Deaf Hands is simple:
All we need to get started is a Mac and Mac mini so we can work alongside Claude to create some solutions and get an MVP out there for what we want to solve
It’s been…
Fours years since I last tweeted here
I think with all the tech advances since, it might be time to reinvigorate this project
Not for Web3 but for deaf communities worldwide
It’s time to start advancing deaf technology and here is where we start
