The votes have been counted, and while we didn’t quite get the majority, we claim so many types of victory. We started a crucial conversation about the justice system in Yolo County. We listened to and learned from each other.

In just 133 days, we were able to boldly challenge a 12-year incumbent. And we did it with integrity. We didn’t dilute our message of transformational change. We didn’t resort to fear-mongering or mudslinging. We stayed focused on the issues.

We made Yolo County stronger by building connections across communities separated by distance and differing experiences. We showed elected officials that we are paying attention and that the people of Yolo County demand no less than true justice.

While our opponent went ahead & declared victory for himself shortly after the early vote came in, we’re going to wait until the 18,640 uncounted ballots at the county elections office (+ more arriving today & tomorrow) get counted before jumping to any conclusions. Stay tuned!
