Thanks to Martin Mongan for reporting the new 90-minute fare being introduced on Cork city bus services this Summer.
A tag-on service to allow quicker boarding will follow. That was meant to be introduced in August but is delayed for technical issues.

A red letter day for commuter transport in Cork —
Designs for new stations at Blackpool, Tivoli, Dunkettle & Blarney published — with P&R facilities at Blarney and Dunkettle.
The rubber meeting the tarmac after four years of under-the-radar engineering work by Irish Rail. 👏👏
Great to see @corkcitycouncil remove these contraptions👍
Reducing pollution at source is the only effective way to improve air quality.
But I'm focusing on the good actions council has taken in improve air quality, including its network of low cost sensor network in city😃
#WoodBurning is the largest single source of #Health damaging PM2.5 in the UK & is an entirely unnecessary source of #AirPollution in the 21stC where people live, play, go to school...

Good bye and, as they say, thank you for all of the fish.
Europe doesn't want more fascists again -- maga or mega. Staying here feels too much like an endorsement. You can find IrishCycle elsewhere.
Thanks to @amycampbellcork and @echolivecork for reporting my comments on the need to dramatically increase EV charging points in Cork.
The city agreed an EV charging strategy in June. This needs to be implemented now with speed and ambition.

That's terrible!
Enforcement of residential burning is difficult, so combining good policy with public awareness is key.
We've seen big reductions in air pollution since the smoky fuels ban came into effect in 2022.
Most noticeably in small towns...looking at you, #Enniscorthy
🌃 On January 24th, #cleanairnight will take place, raising awareness about the importance of breathing clean air and protecting our health.
💨Poor air quality can make breathing harder, especially for children and the elderly, contributing to 1,600 premature deaths in Ireland annually.

Certainly time for more detailed discussion of low/zero/ultralow emission zones. Vehicular traffic a major source of air pollution and climate emissions.
Today, the Netherlands takes bold climate action as 14+ towns introduce zero-emission zones to address urban pollution.
Meanwhile, in Ireland, similar steps remain absent, despite rising emissions.
Time for leadership!
I love that the lawyer who connected climate attribution to health risk is one of Nature’s 10 people who shaped science in 2024.
She led the lawsuit against the Swiss govt for violating the rights of older women by failing to take climate action.
