Need be I add to it that Odegaard at that age was the same as Wirtz now. There was no time Carragher or Skysport looked at him, criticized him and said that was his best and he couldn’t do much better. Neither did Arsenal fans call for his head.
So when you go about nodding your head while @Carra23 brings down our youngsters for his pay checks and his Evertonian family, ask yourself who will be his next target after Wirtz? Barcola, Rio, Munoz, Ekitike, Jacquet are all next prey. Be ready to tear them down with him.

🚨 Stop blaming Wirtz!

Wirtz is the last person to blame. He’s covering more distance, making more defensive contributions and recovering more balls than any midfielder in the entire Premier League. He’s constantly cleaning up the scraps Gravenberch and Szoboszlai leave behind, recovering loose balls and mopping up their mistakes.

Now imagine we actually benched him like some people are suggesting. Who’s recovering those balls? Who’s making those defensive contributions? Who’s cleaning up those mistakes?

He’s doing far more work than he should be. Imagine what Wirtz could do offensively with a proper defensive midfielder behind him providing cover, instead of constantly having to cover for everyone else.

The midfield must have Nyoni in it every game and Szoboszlai must be moved to right back!
