@CityofEdmonton I cannot see past the weeds and tall grass on ALL City properties that almost never gets tended or mowed. Our city looks SO bad I am embarrassed when out of town guests come. They invariably ask, “what happened?” I would like to see more of my property taxes used here.

It's day 132 of reminding the @CityofEdmonton that it is not an "inconvenience" when disabled residents can't utilize city facilities or participate in taxpayer funded events because of barriers to accessibility. It's a human rights issue. They should know that. But they don't so I'm reminding them every single day until they provide proper inclusivity and ableism training to staff, managers, decision makers and council members.
With proper training, their communications team would know about disability inclusive language. With proper training, City council members could identify barriers to access and might think twice before using tax dollars to fund civic engagement activities that exclude members of a marginalized community. Hopefully training can be arranged before we get to day 100000.

It's day 119 of reminding the @CityofEdmonton that it is not an "inconvenience" when disabled residents can't utilize city facilities, get down a city maintained sidewalk, use transit or participate in taxpayer funded events because of barriers to accessibility. It's a human rights issue.
They should know that. But they don't so I'm reminding them every single day until they provide proper inclusivity and ableism training to staff, managers, decision makers and council members.
With proper training, their communications team would know about disability inclusive language. They don't. With proper training, City council members could identify barriers to access and might think twice before using tax dollars to fund civic engagement activities that exclude members of a marginalized community. At least one of them has used tax dollars to fund their exclusionary events. And snow clearing...i think it's day 9 the bus stop is inaccessible. The city did such a poor job of clearing the sidewalk that the wheelchair bounces around over packed snow and nearly gets stuck in the deep parts. When it warms up it will be impassable. Maybe with proper training those clearing the sidewalks would understand what safe accessible sidewalks are.
Hopefully training can be arranged before we get to day 100000.

But they don't, so I'm reminding them every single day until they provide proper inclusivity and ableism training to staff, managers, decision makers, and council members.

And maybe with training they might be able to figure out how to clear snow to make the bus stop accessible. 5 days with no access to it. This time.

@cspotweet Unfairly targets people with disabilities/elderly who rely on grocery delivery as there is no renewable bag options for them. They are often on fixed incomes and this just adds to their costs.
