Daniel Naroditsky (1995–2025)
Born on 9 November 1995 in San Mateo, California, Daniel Naroditsky became a prominent Grandmaster, author, coach and streamer whose influence extended far beyond the chessboard. He died just two weeks before his 30th birthday.
Chess entered his life at the age of six, when his older brother, Alan, brought several board games to entertain children at a party. Their father, Vladimir, an immigrant from Ukraine, taught them how to play chess. “I think a lot of people want to imagine that it was love at first sight and that my brother couldn’t pull me away from the chessboard… It was more of a gradual process, where chess slowly entered the battery of stuff we did to pass the time. A lot of my best memories are just doing stuff with my brother,” he told the New York Times in 2022, in an article announcing that he would be writing a chess column for the paper.

GM Daniel Naroditsky passed away. He was a talented chess player, commentator, and educator. FIDE extends its deepest condolences to Daniel’s family and loved ones.
Dodie inspired us to build walls of prayer. Let’s be encouraged today to pick up someone else’s burden in prayer and believe that we will see as many miracles in the future as we did in the past.
Father, thank you that the calling you put in my heart is far greater than the mistakes and failures I’ve made. Thank you for the supernatural work that you are doing to change the trajectory of my life. I declare that I will fulfill my calling. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Tomorrow, we invite you to join us at 8:30 & 11AM CT for a meaningful time of worship and a message I’ve titled “Lessons I Learned from My Mother.”
We’ll also gather for a Memorial Service on Friday, August 8 at 7PM CT to honor and celebrate the extraordinary life and legacy of my mother, Ms. Dodie Osteen.
THE GM TITLE!!! 🇮🇳🥳🥳🥳🥳
Huge congrats to Divya Deshmukh on becoming the 44th woman to earn the GM title!!! 😃
She's India's 88th GM (!!), and she's just the 8th woman ever to earn the GM title as a teenager! 👏👏👏

I met Toritse in 2018 at the CPAN Chess Tournament, and even then, she was a fighter on the board. 💪🏽
Like me, she found chess later in life, at 21. Her parents didn’t understand it at first; they thought it was gambling. But chess gave her wings, it took her across the world, changed perceptions, and proved what’s possible when you don’t give up.
Seeing how far she’s come today is emotional for me. She’s not just Nigeria’s Women’s Champion; she’s living proof that this game can rewrite destinies. ❤️
