Authorities in the Indian state of Uttarakhand demolished a Muslim prayer structure at a nearly 200-year-old cemetery, claiming it had been built illegally on municipal land.

The demolition sparked protests and a temporary blockade of the Mussoorie–Dehradun highway, with members of the local Muslim community saying the structure had been used for funeral prayers and had served the cemetery for generations.
