I noticed nobody is talking about the consequences of growing up with a disabled sibling. It’s not all “a blessing” like many moralistic people pretend.
Healthy siblings of disabled children are expected to be caretakers their entire lives and it’s a big burden to many of them.
Suddenly everybody on Twitter loves people with Down Syndrome so much and that couple who aborted their DS baby are devils.
All of you condemning them:
How many DS children have you raised?
How many DS adults are you friends with / hang out with?
How many DS people do you date?
We all know the answer to these questions.
99% of the people sitting on their moral high horse neither care for people with Down Syndrome nor do they include them in their lives in any way.
They have never gone to any orphanage to consider adopting a child with DS.
They would never consider seriously being friends with or spending time with a person with DS.
Some of them are even repulsed by people with DS but want to pretend they are saints when it’s time to condemn that couple.
Why would any loving mother choose that fate for her child?
Do you think mothers of children with DS are happy seeing their children being excluded and rejected, and never being able to live a full independent life?
Let alone the fact that whenever a family with a disabled child breaks up, 9 times out of 10 the father abandons the mother with the disabled child and the woman becomes a lifelong hostage unable to live life because she has been enslaved to the endless care of her disabled child.
On top of that she spends her entire life worrying who will care for her child after she dies and because of this worry some old women have even killed their disabled child and killed tnemselves out of despair and worry of what will happen to their child.
So what was the point?
After listening to wicked people at the time of pregnancy and not aborting, spending a lifetime caring for the child without respite, only to end up still killing the child because SURPRISE SURPRISE, none of those people who shamed you to not abort were willing to volunteer to help care for your disabled child to give you a break while you were young, or now that you’re too old and frail to continue.
These people just want to see women as slaves in every unpleasant situation in the world, and as a woman you are the only say and the FINAL say on whether you give birth to a child or not, because when the suffering begins NONE OF THESE PEOPLE WILL EVER SUFFER WITH YOU.
Henry Nowak's mother has said:
"We are a family who have friends across faith and race, and so did Henry. We want his memory to help bring our society together."
And there you have it.
The Sikh community are often first on the scene in a crisis. They dedicate their lives to helping others, of any culture. They provide untold amounts of relief in humanitarian disasters. One evil act by one Sikh does not represent the vast majority who are charitable & peaceable.
@BradfemlyWalsh Never forgot visiting London from Dublin in 1975 at the age of thirteen. We had a McDonald's for the first time. Just SO exciting !!!! Exotic !!
For over a decade, I thought I had a male brain in a female body. In other words, I considered myself 🏳️⚧️ transgender.
Now, I’ve quit my gender transition, and have decided to go on a health and weight loss journey. I’ve lost over 40 pounds and I’m close to my goal weight.
With every pound I’ve lost, I become even more shocked that I managed to bind my chest for as long as I did.
The measures I took as an adolescent to ‘correct’ this gender incongruence have destroyed my upper body- both in form and in function.
I have a nerve injury, horribly flared ribs, damaged breast tissue, no positive sensation in the area, weakened skin, decreased lung capacity, severe left side back and neck pain…. Just to name a few.
Shapewear can hide quite a few of these things. But there are certain things that even multiple layers of shapewear can’t hide.
None of the trans adults guiding me and other known minors online about how to bind our breasts in secret, told us that any of this could happen to us. The most they said was to not bind with an ace bandage specifically, because then you can crack a rib. Everything else, the said, was safe if you do it no more than 10-12 hours a day. Years later, that number changed to eight hours.
Why? Because they’re making it up as they go along.
What they did not warn me or my peers about was that all breast binding done for a gender affirming purpose is inherently unsafe, and even more so when it is done by someone whose upper body (breasts, lungs, heart, ribs, spine etc) are still actively growing.
Because the trans community is still overwhelmingly buying into the notion that things like breast binding can be done safely for months or years at a time, without any evidence supporting their claim, kids are still getting hurt.
If the blatant lies that were told to me as a 12 year old girl in 2011/2012 weren’t continually peddled by online & irl trans communities, I would have nothing to speak out about.
But truthfully, breast binding is one of those practices that everyone still thinks is ok to lie about the harms of.
Parents are still buying their daughters breast binders thinking that they are “safe and reversible” or that these medical devices used for post surgical recovery are somehow “just pieces of clothing.” This includes parents who are already concerned about the medical harms of gender transition, but think that breast binding is a good compromise. It is NOT. It is actively hurting your growing kids.
Gender clinics promote these practices as being safe.
Schools still give out these dangerous medical devices to children without their parents’ knowledge. These are all big problems.
Take my story as a cautionary tale. Using multiple layers of shapewear, I might look ‘normal.’
Underneath it all, my left scapula aches before sending tingling sensations and then numbness down my left arm, whenever I stand or walk too long, or whenever I use a small shoulder bag. I’m almost 27, and I need a neck brace just to sleep. I cannot take deep breaths without pain. My ribs constantly feel like they’re hooking onto things underneath me when I’m lying on my side. That is in fact a very painful experience. There is no positive sensation in my chest and the entire area is deformed.
Gender affirming breast binding is NEVER harmless, nor does it cause damage which is easily reversible, or which is reversible at all. Most of this damage is not ‘a broken rib that will heal on its own.
It is done with no end in sight, and not under the strict supervision of a doctor monitoring the patient (as they would be in the case where a maximum of six weeks of binding is the post surgical recovery protocol).
It’s time that we all take the harms of gender affirming breast binding seriously. Not one study has shown that it can be done safely.
REPOST to raise awareness
Many of them didn't. Your great-great-grandmother was probably drinking opium for her nerves, sold at the corner shop as cheap as a pint of beer. It was called laudanum, a mix of opium and alcohol that doctors handed out for anxiety, sleeplessness, and "women's troubles." Mothers fed it to crying babies. The babies often stopped crying because they stopped breathing.
The men drank. By 1830 the average American was putting away almost two bottles of liquor a week. Whiskey cost less than coffee or milk. People started their day with a shot and ended it with another. Toddlers drank from their parents' rum mugs.
ADHD has a long paper trail. A Scottish doctor described kids who couldn't focus in 1798. By 1846 there was a popular German children's book about a boy called Fidgety Philipp who couldn't sit still. In 1902, a London children's doctor named George Still wrote a famous paper on the same kids and called it a "defect of moral control." Same kid, three different centuries.
Depression and anxiety had old names too. Melancholia, hysteria, the vapors. Treatments included bloodletting, ice baths, and chaining people to a wall. By 1937, American mental hospitals held 451,672 patients and took up more than half of every hospital bed in the country. Inside the walls, about 1 in 10 patients died each year.
Then came the lobotomy. Between 1949 and 1952, around 50,000 Americans were strapped to a chair while a doctor hammered an ice pick through the thin bone above their eye and wiggled it around inside their brain. It took about ten minutes. Sixty percent of the patients were women. About 1 in 20 died from the procedure. Many of the ones who lived came out with no personality left. The man who invented the procedure won a Nobel Prize.
Britain's male suicide rate hit 30.3 per 100,000 in 1905. The lowest rates ever recorded in British history are happening right now.
Plenty of our ancestors didn't make it. They drank themselves dead. They overdosed on shop-bought opium. They got locked in asylums and never came out. They had picks driven through their eye sockets. They killed themselves in numbers we don't see today. The conditions were always there. The treatments just used to be worse than the disease.
I was horrified to learn that in the 1950's samesex attracted people were told they were criminals and then pumped full of body altering chemicals. Thankfully nowadays these people are told they are trans, and then pumped full of body altering chemicals. We've come so far.
This is one of my favorite videos of all time. As a child psychologist, it’s a perfect example of joint attention, preverbal communication, and coregulation.
If you're Jewish or non-Jewish, please, let the world know:
An openly anti-Zionist Jewish community in NewYork Protested
Millions of Jews around the world reject Zionism and reject the claim that Israel represents them but mainstream media almost never mention this.
No. This is a weird fantasy that men make up.
It’s absurd.
This is why the orgasm gap is so large. They believe sticking anything in a vagina makes women horny. Men are so uneducated about women’s bodies.
Are Chinese people in Britain chased down the street for what Beijing does to Uighurs? Are Russians here hunted for Ukraine? Are Afghans attacked over how women are treated back home? No. But Jews are singled out, blamed, and targeted for Israel. The hypocrisy isn’t even subtle.
