In the last 25 years I have come across various cases of students beaten up by teachers in Delhi Govt and MCD schools but not even in one case erring teacher was punished.
What sort of a clarification is this? People have clearly spotted elephants being transported in vehicles registered to Guj. The tweet should have at least mentioned the purpose of such activities if not transfer/transportation to anywhere. @CMOfficeAssam
my prediction is that the alcohol-driven culture of nightlife is going to go though a huge upending
Now is a good time to open that late night decaf tea house, evening bathhouse, game board parlor, or cozy cafe that closes at 2am
Such populist measures have time and again failed to address the root cause behind the frequent water pipe bursts in the city: unchecked contractors facing no penalty, lack of safeguards while installation/testing of pipes, no prior intimation given to residents or precautions.
This is fast response!!
Immediate Compensation Provided to Affected Families After Water Pipe Explosion in Guwahati
The Department of Housing & Urban Affairs (DoHUA), under the leadership of Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah, provided immediate financial compensation to the families affected by a water pipe explosion in Kharguli.
The incident, which caused significant damage to properties, prompted the Department to take quick action to alleviate the suffering of the impacted residents.
The next challenge will be the revive this project and make it funactional for the residents of Guwahati

NEWS | Freedom Fighter's Statue At Nehru Park Gets Plaque After Citizens' Campaign On Social Media
Over the years, several statues and structures with cultural significance have been erected across Guwahati. Unfortunately, there has been a lack of proper documentation to help the younger generation and tourists understand the relevance of these structures.
On May 16, Anita Verma, an advocate of Gauhati High Court and president of the NGO 'We for Guwahati,' wrote a letter to the Minister of Urban and Housing Affairs, Ashok Singhal, the Commissioner and Secretary of Housing and Urban Affairs Department, Kavitha Padmanathan, the Chairman of GMDA, Narayan Deka, and the CEO of GMDA, Annbamuthan MP. She addressed the issue of several structures in the revamped Nehru Park lacking signages or plaques to inform visitors about Guwahati's history.
Anita mentioned the Zero Point at Nehru Park, where the city was mapped during the British era, and the statue of Kushal Konwar, a renowned freedom fighter from Assam in the letter. Both structures lacked inscriptions depicting their historical significance.
After waiting for nearly a month with no response from authorities, a temporary plastic plaque was eventually placed near the statue by GMDA. Anita took to X (formerly Twitter) to update everyone about the situation. On June 13, she posted about the issue, stating that after pointing out the lack of signage and historical information, the GMDA responded with a "cheap plastic signage for the statue of the freedom fighter."
Senior journalist from Assam Mrinal Talukdar also highlighted the plastic plaque on X, saying, "Today everyone remembered Kushal Konwar. The only proper statue (Nehru Park) did not have even a plaque. When @annaverma27 wrote to GMDA, they placed a ₹100 plastic board last week with the name. Hope tomorrow we will see a proper plaque describing his legacy."
What a month-old letter and suggestions from a concerned citizen couldn't achieve was accomplished by one tweet from Mrinal Talukdar June 15. The Assam Chief Minister responded within 30 minutes, asking for urgent action from the Minister of Urban and Housing Affairs, Ashok Singhal.
Within two hours, Singhal visited Nehru Park with GMDA officials and installed a more permanent plaque. He later posted on X, "As per the direction of our Hon’ble CM Dr. @ himantabiswa, visited Nehru Park along with Shri Narayan Deka, Chairman GMDA & other senior officials. The temporary sign has been properly fitted, and a new plaque befitting the stature of Swahid Kushal Konwar will be installed in his honour at the earliest."
Coincidentally, the plaque was fitted on Kushal Konwar’s death anniversary, on June 15 befitting the day.

Pleased to be able to get the attention of the authorities through our representation from We for Guwahati Foundation. @annaverma27
CM has directed the concerned Minister to take urgent action and ensure proper signage along with proper accessibility features are installed.
