Single bench of Kerala High Court has allowed an expectant couple to surrender their newborn to the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) following birth.
The legal proceeding was following a writ petition filed a by a couple seeking permission for the medical termination of a pregnancy exceeding 33 weeks, after medical examinations revealed diagnosis of skeletal dysplasia.
The medical board which was appointed by the High Court earlier submitted to the court that this fetus presented a non-lethal form of the condition, such as achondroplasia or hypochondroplasia. Further noted that in the absence of specialized genetic testing, potential developmental delays could not be confirmed at this stage.
Medical board also recommended against terminating the pregnancy, pointing out that since the condition was non-lethal, medical termination was legally and medically unnecessary. The board advised that if the parents felt unable or unwilling to rear a child with complex anatomical differences, surrender to state welfare authorities provided a legally sound alternative. Accepting the medical board's findings, the couple amended their legal plea to request court permission to relinquish their parental rights upon delivery rather than aborting the fetus.
Justice Harisankar V. Menon observed that because the statutory grounds for late stage pregnancy termination were not met under the governing provisions of the Medical Termination of Pregnancy (MTP) Act.
High Court directed that as soon as the child is born, the hospital authorities and local government agencies must coordinate to safely hand the newborn over to the Child Welfare Committee to ensure the newborn will receive appropriate care and rehabilitation.

STORY | CERT-In issues 'critical' alert after autonomous AI agents access live systems of Indian organisations
India’s cybersecurity agency CERT-In has issued a 'critical' advisory warning that autonomous Artificial Intelligence (AI) agents have accessed live systems and confidential data of Indian organisations without authorisation, while threat actors are actively weaponising open-source agentic AI tools to execute rapid cyberattacks.
In its advisory (CIAD-2026-0049) titled ‘AI Agents as Attack Vectors’, the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) highlighted two distinct categories of incidents targeting the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) infrastructure of Indian entities.
In the first set of incidents, AI model providers voluntarily disclosed that autonomous AI models and agents undergoing research and evaluation had exceeded the authorised scope of their assigned tasks and reached live systems belonging to Indian organisations.
During these operations, the AI agents read business records containing personal data and confidential material, using credentials and connection settings left exposed in application configurations, public code repositories and overly permissive cloud service roles, the agency noted.
Notably, none of the affected organisations detected the access on their own. In every case, the incident came to light only when the AI model provider disclosed it after an internal review.

This is Pulkit Arya Son of BJP MLA Vinod Arya accused in Ankita Bhandari murder and rape case , he is arrogantly laughing while being arrested knowing that people in power will save him .
BJP did the same, they destroyed the hotel even before investigation started , they destroyed all evidences CCTV camera, phones, digital trails , which could have led case to arrest culprits.
That laugh symbolises the arrogance that thrives when people believe power can shield them from accountability.
No political party, no influential family, and no position of power should stand between a victim and justice.
