Debating Matters

Probably the toughest debating competition in the world.
Taking young people and ideas seriously since 2003.

[Alastair Donald @MaximumCities]

Brilliant @DebatingMatters final here in Berlin on 'Protecting free speech more important than preventing hate'.
Tho I stand with the free speech side, worth saying both teams of young debaters made great speeches & are fighting hard. The future is bright if this is the standard

👨‍⚖️Removing Trial by Jury in some cases has been making the headlines today. It's a topic DM students have been debating this term.

Excited to take part in @DebatingMatters in Oxford tomorrow. One of the debates asks if 'Trial by jury should be removed in certain cases'. Very topical. Looking forward to hearing what the students have to say!

Blown away by the quality of arguments by brilliant sixth form teams at @DebatingMatters. Honoured to have been asked to be a judge and hear strong points on AI, social media censorship and reparations. We can all do better to learn critical thinking skills, focus on the morality of arguments and seek to understand a different point of view, even if we don’t agree with it. And congratulations to Berkshire school Leighton Park for being crowned the winners 🏆 👏
