Although we don't want to give away our best technology, we would have to use whatever capacity we have to stop that. I am thinking about the laser, almost infinite ability to stop incoming projectiles. Hopefully ours would be ready for such an assault and protect ours given that we expect confrontation in the next decade, we need to have a head-to-head meeting with other tech technologies

I assume our military is as capable of a low exposure attack on a second world country as we were in Venezuela. I can't imagine a better outcome than to destroy this regime and reinstall a democracy. Although, previously, we supported a dictator.
It all depends on how we are able to restructure a government if they don't do so themselves

At least one goal exists that I would be happy about: that's the insane theory that they can then change the world and align it with their theocracy will finally end. I sincerely doubt that either Russia or China actually want Iran to continue creating mayhem throughout the Middle East. They have other motives, but appearing to back away from a confrontation from the United States is not a good look. To actually commit themselves and be destroyed by the United States is even worse. They are toeing the line which leads nowhere.
