BREAKING: A federal judge delivers a CRUSHING defeat to Donald Trump by blocking his underhanded and illegal scheme to fire thousands of federal workers during the MAGA government shutdown. President and CEO Skye Perryman of Democracy Forward, stated that Trump "seems to think his government shutdown is distracting people from the harmful and lawlessness actions of his administration, but the American people are holding him accountable, including in the courts." She added that Judge Illston's statement "make clear that the president’s targeting of federal workers — a move straight out of Project 2025’s playbook — is unlawful" and that "playing games with their livelihoods is cruel and unlawful and a threat to everyone in our nation." The attempted firings serve two primary purposes for the Republican agenda. The first aim is to exert pressure on Democrats to cave and sign onto the funding bill. Trump knows that Democrats are the only ones who actually care about keeping the government functioning and providing services to the American people, so he's hoping to exploit their sense of duty and responsibility. Meanwhile, Democrats are simply asking for extensions to essential Affordable Care Act subsidies. They're using their leverage to save lives.
