We now live in a world where anyone can say anything online. And it shows.
The feed has become the main source of information for many people. Some content is accurate, some is misleading, and most of it spreads at speed. Sustainability communication feels this pressure more than most. It involves science, long-term plans and constant change, which makes it easy to misinterpret.
Trust has suffered. A small number of brands have pushed claims too far. Regulators are responding. And many organisations have pulled back from communicating altogether because they worry about being criticised or misunderstood. This rise in silence is what we call greenhushing.
@theagcharter exists to help address this. It gives organisations a clear, practical way to communicate responsibly. Its four standards – transparency, accountability, fairness and honesty – are designed to support clearer claims and stronger trust.
If the last decade showed how quickly communication can become confused, the next can show how we rebuild confidence and clarity.
