@HannahtheOT Good to have evidence for this for deaf and hard of hearing children, but isn’t one of Makaton’s underpinnings this very argument for children with language delays?
@GillBatty@BeresfordPeter I also found this the greatest hurdle / struggle. It challenges your personal integrity as a researcher and I explicitly addressed this in the thesis as well. This was in 2006 so thanks @BeresfordPeter for your inspiration and support wile swimming against the stream!

Despite policy on ‘suitable education’ (passend onderwijs) to support as many children as possible in mainstream schools, the number of special schools is growing. Understaffing and no / very little pre- and in-service education relevant to IE do not help…
