I have been patient with this issue for days, but I believe it deserves public attention.

On Saturday evening, I suddenly lost access to my FCMB Internet Banking and Mobile App. The error message stated that my profile had been deactivated and that I should visit a branch for reactivation.

What makes this more frustrating is that I SUCCESSFULLY carried out transactions with the same app THE PREVIOUS DAY.

Because of this issue, I was unable to make payment at a pharmacy when I needed to purchase medication and had to borrow money from someone else despite having funds in my own account.

Since then, I have contacted FCMB support seeking an alternative solution. After waiting almost 24 hours for a response, I was informed that the only solution is to visit a branch.

This is exactly where my concern lies.

I lost confidence in FCMB's customer service years ago, around 2022, after experiencing a situation that required me to spend money on transportation, travel to a branch, and wait for hours because of network issues before I could be attended to.

Back then, I hoped things would improve with time.

Now in 2026, I expected a modern bank to have better digital support options than simply telling customers to visit a branch whenever an issue arises.

Ironically, I recently misplaced the phone containing the SIM linked to my Wema Bank @alat_ng account. That situation forced me to temporarily reduce my use of Wema and make more use of FCMB.

If not for that SIM issue, I honestly would not have trusted FCMB with a larger share of my banking activities.

Despite my challenges with Wema, I have only physically visited a Wema branch once since opening the account in January 2022, and that was simply to submit documents. Almost every other issue has been handled remotely.

Yet with FCMB, a profile issue suddenly appears and the only solution offered is "visit a branch."

The nearest FCMB branch to my current location is far away and will cost me thousands of naira in transportation. What concerns me even more is the possibility of getting there only to hear familiar statements such as "there is no network" or "come back later."

For several days now, I have had to inconvenience other people and borrow money because I cannot access services linked to my own account.

I am not asking for special treatment. I am simply asking why a bank operating in 2026 cannot provide a secure remote solution for issues like this.

FCMB, customers deserve better.
