In honor of Independence Day, this is on the Statue of Liberty:
“Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!” 💙💙💙
The Southern Poverty Law Center just fired back at the Trump DOJ.
In a new filing, the SPLC accuses the Trump administration of pushing outright lies to justify its case, warning that officials have made “repeated false and highly prejudicial statements” that could have tainted the entire prosecution.
Here’s the key passage from the filing:
In addition to the false claims about Charlottesville, Administration officials have made repeated false and highly prejudicial statements about the SPLC and its activities, including the fanciful and baseless claim that the SPLC is 'giving money to the KKK'—an allegation not even supported by or contained in the indictment itself."
The filing also calls out FBI Director Kash Patel directly, accusing him of “naked partisanship” after he went on Fox News and amplified these claims—despite them not even appearing in the charges.
The SPLC says this isn’t just rhetoric—it’s dangerous. They argue the government may have misled the grand jury itself, raising serious concerns about whether this case is rooted in facts… or politics.
Good morning and Happy Tuesday to everyone who agrees that MAGA Republicans who incorrectly blame Democrats for "hateful rhetoric" need to view this supercut of trump's rhetoric.
He is the PRESIDENT.
Stop coddling him.
HOLD HIM ACCOUNTABLE.
Rep. McBride on the Republican push to use taxpayer money to build Trump’s ballroom:
My constituents can’t afford fucking groceries or utility bills, and he now wants to spend taxpayer money on a ballroom? They shouldn’t use a potential tragedy to try to secure funding from taxpayers for the president to have Great Gatsby parties in the White House.
Journalist Edward R. Murrow used his platform on CBS to criticize the witch hunts led by Senator Joseph McCarthy in the 1950s.
This is what real journalism should do — hold power to account, not capitulate to it.
@cecewinans - one of the very best singers I’ve ever heard singing our National Anthem before the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions game today! Just Beautiful!
Violence has no place in America. Michelle and I are praying for the servicemembers shot in Washington, DC today, and send our love to their families as they enter this holiday season under the most tragic of circumstances.
The Witkoff-Ushakov call was leaked. It was leaked by someone in the intelligence community. Wherever you are, I salute you. For that to happen, there must be grave, deep concern for what is happening. There is a Russian operation controlling our foreign policy.
When I worked for Obama, I advised him on how to talk to Russian leaders. I never gave the Kremlin advice on how to talk to Obama (and I talked to Ushakov many times!).
🟥 Trump refused to attend the G20 Summit because it was being hosted by an African Country and he couldn't stomach the idea of an African President hosting a summit that he would be attending, and possibly upstaging him.
Resultantly, this G20 summit turned out to be one of the most successful, productive and tranquil Global Leader's Event, since Trump took office! 🙂✅
Everyone noticed the absence of tension and chaos that always follows wherever orange goes.
Leaders were relaxed and held productive, unifying and OPEN talks. 👌🏼
Prime Minister Mark Carney was star of the show. ✨
His steady leadership, deep experience and wise counsel was heavily sought after.
We are so fortunate to have this deeply respected and brilliant mind as our PM. 🇨🇦 🏆

Trump, Hegseth, and Republicans think their meltdown shows strength, but it’s the opposite. They’re showcasing decorated Democratic veterans like Mark Kelly who make them look small and petty. They should pay more attention to lowering grocery prices than ridiculous threats of court-martialing.
I'm suing the Trump administration to protect over $3 billion in funds that provide vital housing and services to fight homelessness.
Cutting off these funds could put over 170,000 people at risk of homelessness.
We must protect our most vulnerable neighbors.
