Prime Minister Mark Carney’s flagship investment agency has delivered a blunt message to United Arab Emirates officials looking to pour billions of dollars into Canada: we have nowhere to put your money. https://t.co/YPaaTU5Q4m
@OpeBee PBAT has instituted the reforms & laid the foundation now, like he did in Lagos. If after 10 years NRS is generating over N200tn, some folks will still be asking "What exactly did Tinubu do?"
Transformational leader!!
He did it in Lagos; growing the state’s monthly IGR from about ₦600 million to over ₦5 billion, a record that stood unmatched for decades.
He’s doing it again at the national level.
Any attempt to derail this trajectory will be met with the strongest resistance at the ballot box in 2027.
The Nigeria Revenue Service generated N21.6tn in the first half of 2026, representing a 49% increase year-on-year, driven by sweeping tax reforms, digitalisation of tax administration and changes to oil revenue remittances.
Total tax collections rose from N12.3tn in 2023 to N21tn in 2024 and N28.3tn in 2025, while the N21.6tn generated in the first six months of 2026 represented a 49% increase over the corresponding period of 2025.
Non-oil revenue accounted for 76% of total collections, while Nigeria’s tax-to-GDP ratio improved from 10.3% to 13%.
NRS revenue target for 2026 is N40.7 trillion. Clearly on course to surpass the target
Nigerians: Nothing is being done
They showed you roads
Nigerians: We need rail
They showed you rail
Nigerians: We need a functional metro like the London underground
They ask you to pay taxes
Nigerians: This govt wants to kill us with taxes
When I voted for Doug Ford I didn’t know I was signing up for chaos.
He just raised the speed limit to 110 on almost every highway in Ontario.
Last year he banned the speed cameras too, calling them a cash grab.
So now you can go faster, and there’s nothing left to catch you doing it.
