My moms PSW has 13 clients today. Mom was #2.

PSWs pay for their own transportation - subway, gas, parking costs...

PSWs are hands down primarily women, Black, Filipina, and racialized.

PSWs are NOT paid enough for the full value of their work. We fought for years for increased wages and better work conditions. The fight continues.

Please dont stop talking about it.

Do not stop standing up for our PSWs.

Premier Ford continues to hold back owed salary payments to countless women thanks to his unconstitutional wage surpressing Bill 124.

Friends, us caregivers have a heavy load on our shoulders...but our load would be unimaginable without PSWs.

This is the part I keep coming back to also - building these weapons and forcing this narrative that the world is more “dangerous and divided” is a self-fulfilling prophecy. Keep up the rhetoric and the arms manufacturing and there’s no doubt Canada will be looking for a reason to keep building (and using) the weapons.

It’s like oil, once the industry is addicted to the cash, path dependence kicks in and its really hard to turn it all off.

I feel like the Canadian government is cheering for war, which is just so depressing.

The soldiers asked her, 'Is this your mother?' She said, Yes, and then they immediately cut off the audio.

حذّرت جمعية أطباء لحقوق الإنسان (PHRI) من أن الدكتور حسام أبو صفية، مدير مستشفى كمال عدوان، يواجه خطرًا فوريًا على حياته، وذلك بعد زيارة محاميه الأستاذ ناصر عودة له في قسم التحقيقات تحت الأرض “راكيفيت” داخل سجن نيتسان.

بحسب شهادة المحامي، ظهر الدكتور حسام وهو مقيّد اليدين والقدمين، ويعاني من إصابات وكدمات حديثة في الرأس والوجه والرقبة، مع صعوبة في التنفس والكلام، وحالة إنهاك شديدة جعلته على وشك فقدان الوعي أكثر من مرة. كما أكد أنه يتعرض لاعتداءات يومية، وفقد الوعي عدة مرات، ولم يتلقَّ العلاج الطبي اللازم.

وقال لمحاميه:
“هذه آخر مرة ستراني فيها… لقد أحضروني إلى هنا لكي يقتلوني. لا أرى نفسي حيًا. هذه هي النهاية.”

تطالب جمعية أطباء لحقوق الإنسان بنقله فورًا من هذا القسم، والسماح بإجراء فحص طبي مستقل وعاجل، والإفراج عنه وعن جميع الأطباء المحتجزين دون تهمة أو محاكمة.

It is important to understand that the US maintains a neocolonial relationship with most countries in West Asia.

The US military never truly left Iraq. It continues to militarily occupy the country, where it still has military bases.

The US also controls Iraq's oil revenue, which makes up 90% of the country's government budget. Iraq can only access its own money with US permission, because, ever since the US invasion and occupation, Iraq's oil revenue has been routed through the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. (The Trump administration has imposed this same scheme on Venezuela, after invading the country, killing more than 100 people, and kidnapping its president.)

In fact, after the US launched its war of aggression against Iran, it blocked Iraq from getting access to the money that it earned from its own oil sales. Washington demanded that Baghdad cut all ties with Tehran and assist in the war effort.

This is neocolonialism. Most of the countries in the region are not fully sovereign. Iran is the rare exception -- which is a big reason why the US empire is so obsessed with regime change there.

Yesterday's pipeline announcement is yet another reminder that Prime Minister Carney cares more about lining the pockets of his corporate friends than upholding the Constitutional rights of Indigenous peoples and protecting the public from the escalating climate emergency.

It’s time for us to stand up and tell the Liberal government we’ve had enough!

I would like to remind the Prime Minister that the government’s current approach does not satisfy the “prior” requirement of Free, Prior, and Informed Consent. International standards are clear that Indigenous peoples must be meaningfully consulted before major decisions, approvals, or designations are made. When the federal government unilaterally determines that a project is in the “national interest” and only then initiates consultation, a foundational decision has already been imposed.

Consultation after the fact cannot be considered prior consent.

We need to follow the countries leading the energy transition and build for industries of the future.

That’s why I, with the support of the NDP leader @avilewis, have sponsored @350Canada's petition calling on the federal government to stop pushing environmentally catastrophic new fossil fuel projects, to protect the health of all those impacted by the climate emergency, and to invest in a green energy transition led by workers, communities and Indigenous peoples.
