We were amazed by the results! Groups even wanted to make changes to their design and try again! Problem solving at its finest! One group wondered if we could make a giant one for Hopedale 🤔
The 7s learned the importance of water filtration! Using “contaminated” water (vinegar, coffee, soil and green food colouring) Using sand, activated carbon, gravel, cotton balls and coffee filter Ss created their own filter and tested their designs! @acms_nanuit@PlayJouerCanada
Moving onto STEM class, we explored the use of materials and defining boundaries. Do we restrict resources? Do we allow cutting? Where are we giving room for creativity and when is it not defined enough for our students?
Our staff did an “Empathy Scavenger Hunt” - in their team, there was a person who was blind, another who had a broken leg and another who could not/would not speak. Our debrief reminded us how difficult it can be as a student as well as a teacher/assistant.
In math, we explored creativity and collaboration by asking the impossible! Can you count the grains of sand? We had one student reach frustration- what could we do to engage her? 🤔
We had fun at our in house pep rally aka “Fan Day” at ACMS! Thanks to the racing teams who sent our students messages and to our many volunteers that will help our checkpoint! See you in Hopedale!
