A friend of the charity recently joined one of our women-only Porchlight Open Door meet-ups.
We run these meet-ups to create a space especially for women, where they feel safe and supported.
Since then, Porchlight has been developing specialist support for women – including the women-only meet-ups.
We also have staff who only work with women and a rapid rehousing fund to help female rough sleepers off the streets as quickly as possible.

An important message for #InternationalWomensDay.
Rough sleeping is dangerous for everyone, but homeless women are at greater risk of violence and abuse. As a result, many stay hidden and are less likely to accept support.
But there are ways to help.🧵

One of our clients enjoys a relaxing nail treatment at a women-only Porchlight Open Door meet-up.
We provide female-only spaces because women who’ve been homeless tell us they feel safer in them: the meet-ups are a chance for women we support to socialise and feel included.
By creating environments where women feel more comfortable, we can help them start to recover from the trauma they’ve experienced.

@HOTBINcompost although it’s cold at the moment, I’ve got a surplus of worms at the top and even coming out of the sides of the bin. What’s the reason and should I take out some compost?

When the pandemic began, Universal Credit payments were increased by £20 per week.
They've been a lifeline for struggling households - including 92,000 households in Kent (as of May this year).
Reducing the payments could be disastrous for many.
