What makes CA’s heat wave ranking system unique is that it is *health-based* not simply temperature-based. This is a way more powerful ranking tool, since it takes into account a lot of variables, including the vulnerability of the population that is impacted.
Update: filled a chest with ice and water and traveled around Davis, making acquaintances with kind (and hot!) folks in town. Kids handed out water to people and pets.
