The only accurate part of Gad Saad's tweet below is that he has indeed been "explaining" this for years.

The quote he references, from a 1974 speech at the United Nations by the late Algerian President Houari Boumediene (pictured), is however fabricated.

Boumediene did not utter the words attributed to him. He delivered only one speech at the UN in 1974, and the transcript is available for verification.

Falsehood and fabrication are in Saad's case a consistent pattern. It is how demagogues and charlatans operate.

Saad’s fellow flunkies actually went through the trouble of inventing a lengthy quote for Boumediene, which Saad dutifully reproduces in full:

"One day, millions of men will leave the Southern Hemisphere to go to the Northern Hemisphere. And they will not go there as friends. Because they will go there to conquer it. And they will conquer it with their sons. The wombs of our women will give us victory."

The fake Boumediene quote has been invoked by legions of far-right supremacists. It has, for example, also been published by that other charlatan, Douglas Murray. That would be the same Douglas Murray who comically invented an account that Idi Amin was the progenitor of the UN’s resolution determining that Zionism is rasicm, and devoted several pages of a book to this fiction.

So how did this fake quote come about? I found the following on a Wikipedia Talk page:

“I recently acted as a researcher for the book Fatal Misconception. The author, Matthew Connelly, sought to use that quote. I could not find a primary source anywhere, and I was working from the Library of Congress. The only UN conference given that year and the surrounding ones (at only one of which did Boumedienne speak) did not contain that quote in its minutes. If it was said, it was not on record. Indeed, the only places I could find as sources were white-supremacist web pages. They all contained the same quote and identical descriptions, indicating the quotes had come from a single source. I discovered this source was likely The Camp of the Saints, the racist anti-immigration book from 1973. I tried tracking down the information from the publisher to no avail. I, along with Professor Connelly, largely agreed that it was likely a fabrication. Given the date in the article, as 1974, and the publish date of 1973 for Camp of the Saints, where the quote first appeared, it seems unlikely that 1974 is the date it was said. So, I am removing it.”

The individual who wrote the above words is identified only by an IP address. But in the Acknowledgements to Matthew Connelly’s Fatal Misconception: The Struggle to Control World Population (Harvard University Press, 2008), Connelly on p. 492 thanks his “research assistant, Matt Christiansen” and “[o]thers [who] assisted with translations or corrected my notes, including Nancy Davenport, Ed Fitzmaurice, Tim Jolis, Kerri Liming, and Cyrus Schayegh." I suspect the author of the above words is Christiansen, but could be one of the others.

The project would move 30 bcm per year from Nigeria → Niger → Algeria → Mediterranean → Europe.

Why this matters:

• 30 bcm = ~6–7% of pre-war EU gas demand
• Direct sub-Saharan route into Europe
• Strategic diversification away from Russian flows

If completed, this is not just infrastructure.

It’s a geopolitical corridor.

Europe wants supply security.
Algeria wants transit leverage.
Nigeria wants monetisation of stranded gas.

Execution risk remains high, security in the Sahel is fragile, and financing is complex.

But structurally, Europe is still short molecules.

And Africa is sitting on them.
