As youth #suicide rates are rising, teen girls are especially at risk.
Since 2007, girls age 10-14 have experienced a 13% increase in suicide rates vs. 7% for teen boys.
Parents & pediatric providers - we must be proactive in discussing #mentalhealth with teens.

Being a compassionate psychiatrist doesn’t make us less professional
Sharing hope doesn’t make us less skilled
On the contrary it can save someone’s life....
just as much as our knowledge & expertise can.....probably more so
Be the change

Researchers estimate 4.5 to 15 million kids witness physical #violence in the US.

1. Hold terrible secrets
2. Never invite a friend over
3. Blame themselves
We must screen all kids & report abuse.

“It was important for me to be that role model, to be a person that students and colleagues with similar challenges could look up to for guidance and encouragement.” Physician scientist Dr. Sibley discusses the journey of #DocsWithDisabilities. @DrMarleyDoyle@JulieSilverMD
@DrMarleyDoyle My week was interesting and busy as usual. I began my internship, started the SW Statistics course, worked 60 hours at my management job for a Community Mental Health Agency, and got to have my 8 yr old granddaughter spend the night Friday. Life is good!
@DrMarleyDoyle I find your tweets very empowering and I cannot thank you enough for your willingness to share your "humaness" with the rest of us. Lol.
