@GrrrGraphics Next year will be the year to come back for the 50th anniversary! I live here in Memphis and was 15 when he passed! I was devastated! Seems it gets harder every year! He will always be remembered and always be loved! ❤️

Remembering Elvis. On August 16, 1977—49 years ago today—Elvis Presley passed away. He was only 42 years old. I was 8 years old, but I still remember exactly where I was when I heard the news: walking along the boardwalk in Atlantic City, New Jersey, with my parents. Even at that young age, I understood that something enormous had happened. Elvis wasn’t just another singer—he was The King, a larger-than-life figure who seemed to belong to everyone. Do you remember where you were when you heard the news?
My favorite Elvis song is “Can’t Help Falling in Love.” There’s something timeless and beautiful about that song that still gets me every time I hear it. I think almost everyone has a favorite Elvis song.
And yet, behind all the numbers and fame is something more personal: memories. Also, that feeling the world had suddenly lost someone truly special. Nearly five decades later, The King is still remembered.
This is one of my all-time favorites...
Not just of the oldies, not just of Elvis, but all-time period.
This is live: October 28, 1956.
He took center stage on "The Ed Sullivan Show."
Not a single artist today has the stage presence, style, or vocal command that this man had.
No autotune, no lip-syncing, no prerecorded backup tracks, no prerecorded audience.
Even his wardrobe was on point.
Today, they want to highlight bling, or in most cases, wear as little as possible.
Not 1956 Elvis.
He was the epitome of style.
Rest in peace... The King of Rock'n roll.

ON THIS DAY IN HISTORY — AUGUST 16, 1977
49 years ago today, America lost the King.
Elvis Presley died at Graceland in Memphis at only 42 years old. He was preparing to leave that very night for another tour, with his next concert scheduled for August 17. Instead, news of his death stunned the world.
Elvis didn’t just make hit records. He helped change American music and popular culture forever. From a poor kid in Tupelo, Mississippi, to one of the most recognizable men who ever lived, his story was uniquely American.
Nearly half a century later, people still know the voice, the moves, the clothes and the name.
There was only one Elvis Presley.
Long live the King. 🇺🇸👑
