The Community Resource Center resolution, a proposal to combine the center with KCPD's Central Patrol, is held for one month. Stay tuned for updates and be ready to show up when City Council takes this up again.

MAJOR UPDATE: City Council removed REACH, the city's first pre-arrest diversion program, from a proposal that would have moved it into the Department of Corrections. This means REACH will remain in the Health Department 🎉 This happened because we organized and spoke up.

The KCMO City Council will vote on a plan to build a $25 million, 100+ bed "modular jail" ahead of the 2025 World Cup. This comes after community members rallied widespread opposition to the jail at Tuesday's Finance Committee meeting. Updates posted below ⬇️⬇️⬇️

They said the quiet part out loud: We have been doing a very bad job of taking care of our people and now we have no option but to build a jail.

(Which actually furthers the problem by upholding the status quo and continuing to choose harm over healing.)
