London Mayor Sadiq Khan has blocked a £50 million Met Police deal with US tech company Palantir, citing a “clear and serious breach” of public spending rules.
Palantir supplies Israel with AI and surveillance technology used in the genocide in Gaza. The Met had planned to use the company’s AI systems to automate intelligence analysis in criminal investigations.
A spokesperson for the Mayor said Londoners only wanted public money spent on companies that “share the values of our city”.
Palantir has rapidly expanded across UK public services, securing more than £600 million in contracts with the NHS, Ministry of Defence and other institutions.
The company was founded by Trump-supporting billionaire Peter Thiel and also works with the Israeli military and Trump’s ICE immigration operations.

Israeli soldiers posted photos of themselves picking food from gardens and cooking in the homes of Lebanese residents who fled Israel’s bombing.
The same scenes played out decades earlier during the Nakba when Israel forced 750,000 Palestinians from their homes.
Even the cats of Gaza have their share of resilience and mercy. A heart-melting scene of a mother and her five kittens, finding safety and a morsel of bread among the ruins.
In a city weary from pain, these small souls still find those who treat them with kindness.
