Village Nursery and P1-3 setting in West Lothian, Central Scotland. Nurturing, challenging and enthusing our learners to be Determined to Improve and Succeed.
We’re continuing to learn more about the human body, including our sense of taste, smell, and our teeth. We have enjoyed sampling sweet, sour, salty, bitter, and umami foods, trying to identify some mystery smells, and examining our teeth.
We raised £150 for the Scottish Wildlife Trust with our hand-made card sale! Today we got a lovely thank-you letter from the charity and a certificate to recognise our contribution, which they say will have a direct impact on their work to protect Scottish wildlife!
We’ve been enjoying our Active Schools lunchtime club. This week we tried archery, and last week we did football. We’re going to try a new sport every week!
What an amazing day we had today at Blair Drummond Safari Park! The sun was shining and all the animals were out to play… even the T-Rex! What an adventure!
What a successful dinosaur exhibition! 🦖 The children worked hard to present their hand-made dinosaur figures and habitat dioramas, with information reports and palaeontology research logs. In our gift shop we sold hand-made fossils and cards. Thanks to everyone who came along!
The dinosaurs went extinct millions of years ago, but some modern animals are endangered too. We want to help, so we’ve made cards to sell. All funds raised will go to a wildlife charity. You can buy our cards at the local post office after the 9th of April!
After writing lots of information reports about dinosaurs this term, we’ve each chosen our favourite to type up. It’s a good thing we’ve been practising our touch typing and word processing skills!
Today we made dinosaur models out of clay! 🦖 We had to think carefully about the features of our dinosaurs. We used different tools to help us shape the clay and even add some texture.
Our keyboard club has been working really hard on learning to play with both hands, using all their fingers, and reading music. They’re all coming along so well! Here is a little example of what they can do now. 🎹
We've had virtual visitors today! After using trundle wheels to measure the length of various dinosaurs in the playground, we used augmented reality to take pictures with them, showing just how big they actually were! Can you identify these dinosaurs? The longest was 28 metres!
Today we explored missing number calculations, applying our understanding of inverse operations to help us get the answers. #DechmontCounts We also made dinosaur fossil imprints in salt dough. We have plans to use these later in the term for something special!
What a lovely week it’s been! We baked and decorated Christmas cookies, had a party with a visit from Santa, painted, watched an online pantomime, sang Christmas carols with a special visitor in class, and so much more! Wishing everyone a merry Christmas and a happy new year.🎄
