Palestine was still about 95% Palestinian. Many leaders of the Zionist project, some of whom had possibly never seen an olive tree, spoke explicitly from their countries in Europe about their vision being a colonial one and that it would require expelling Arabs by force from Palestine, a land of olive trees. Under British colonization of Palestine and other parts of the region in the early and mid 20th century, the British facilitated the establishment of Zionist institutions and armed militias for aspiring Zionist colonizers arriving in Palestine from Europe. In the couple of years around the 1948 creation of “israel”, Zionist militias killed 13,000 Palestinians and robbed and forced out 750,000 more.

Sorry to bang on about SocDems #DublinCentral26 candidate Daniel Ennis (@DanielEnnis2024) but how did this 38-year old father of two support himself in the 12 months prior to being elected to Dublin City Council in June 2024.

The only declared occupation in his disclosure to DCC for the 12 months prior, is volunteer at a football club.

The RTE biography does state that he was working for local SocDems TD Gary Gannon. Why not declare that?

The RTE biography also states he worked as "an operations manager at a shopping centre in Tallaght". There is no date provided, but a Daniel Ennis of the same age was the company secretary of Dominicks Bargains Limited at St Dominics Shopping Centre in Tallaght between 2021 and November 2023. Is this the same man? And if so, why not declare that also?

The declarations for all councillors at Dublin City Council are lumped together in this 212-page 20MB (big!) PDF file. You'll find Daniel Ennis declaration between page 52-62. The only entry is for Eastwall Bessborough & Belvedere sports club, which RTE says is a volunteer (unpaid) position.

Social Democrat candidate Daniel Ennis was company secretary of Dominicks Bargains Ltd from June 2021 to November 2023.

This company has a registered judgment against it for €28,583.

The company director is Anthony “Tony” Walsh, who was fined earlier this year after Revenue seized:

44,560 illegal cigarettes
2.75kg tobacco
approx €78,000 cash

Walsh also previously pleaded guilty in prosecutions relating to imitation Viagra / unauthorised medicines from the same premises.

RTÉ’s candidate profile described Ennis as having worked as “an operations manager at a shopping centre in Tallaght”, but his Dublin City Council disclosures reportedly only listed an unpaid volunteer role at a football club.

When directly asked who liberated Germany from Nazism, Meyer replied only that it was "historically clearly documented," but declined to say it out loud.

Could SocDems #DublinCentral26 candidate Daniel Ennis (@DanielEnnis2024) confirm whether he was company secretary of Dominicks Bargains Limited (trading as Dominics Crazy Deals / Breathnach’s Bargains, St Dominic’s Shopping Centre, Tallaght) from 2021 to November 2023? CRO records list a Daniel Ennis (born 1988, East Wall address) in that role.

The owner is Anthony Walsh (66), who has multiple prior convictions — including selling unauthorised medicinal products (imitation Viagra) from the same premises in 2011 and 2012, plus tax offences.

In May 2022 Revenue raided the shop, seizing untaxed cigarettes/tobacco, and €78,000 cash believed to be proceeds of crime.

In January 2026 Walsh was convicted at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, fined €5,000, and did not contest the seizure of contraband or €78,000 cash.

There is no accusation or prosecution against any Daniel Ennis in this matter.

For clarity (noting possible different individuals despite similar age/Dublin links):

Was he the company secretary?
What did the role involve day-to-day / any operational involvement?
What due diligence was done in 2021 given Walsh’s earlier record?
Why was the role (which ended in November 2023 according to CRO) not listed in his July 2024 Dublin City Council Declaration of Interests for which the relevant period is July 2024 and 12 months previous?
Was he aware of an ongoing prosecution in 2024, arising from the raid in 2022, when he completed his declaration for Dublin City Council?

This narrative around the by elections selection convention is getting incredibly old.
Both myself and Janice Boylan went to the convention, made our speeches and then the members in the constituency voted. It was a democratic decision and it being made in to some sort of scandal is genuinely ridiculous.
Maybe when @LeoVaradkar said Sinn Féin isn’t a ‘normal’ political party he was getting at the fact that they actually allow their members have a say in party decisions like this, unlike some others.
Seems like yet another attempt to just smear @sinnfeinireland ahead of the by elections.
