The Scottish Parliament has spoken. A significant majority of MSPs has voted to affirm the right of people in Scotland to decide their constitutional future.
This is democracy and it must be respected. Scotlandโs future must be in Scotlandโs hands. ๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ณ๓ ฃ๓ ด๓ ฟ
Woe to those who manipulate religion and the very name of God for their own military, economic, and political gain, dragging that which is sacred into darkness and filth. #ApostolicJourney#Cameroon https://t.co/bKteFZ3iWE
Days of scrutiny means no-one can say the issues werenโt properly examined. Supporters of AS canโt keep asking this question until they get the answer they want. Itโs time to move on, and focus instead of much improved palliative care for all. (2/2)

MSPs can be confident that they have taken the correct and responsible course of action. Their vote serves to protect some of Scotlandโs most vulnerable individuals from the risk of being pressured into a premature death.
Every human life possesses inherent value. Genuine compassion is not expressed through ending a life, but through accompanying those who suffer and ensuring they receive the medical, emotional, and spiritual support that recognises their dignity. No life is without worth.
As a society, our responsibility is not to address suffering by eliminating the sufferer, but to surround each person with care, respect, and dignity until their natural end. Todayโs decision moves Scotland further in that direction, and MSPs should be commended for this.
However, we must continue to make progress. Our next priority must be to strengthen palliative care by ensuring that it is properly funded and accessible to all who require it.
I would like to express my gratitude to all MSPs for their serious engagement with this issue and for the thoughtful and considered attention they have given to the bill. I am especially grateful to those who upheld the principle of human dignity and advocated on behalf of the vulnerable. Your principled commitment has not gone unnoticed.

Dignity in Dying have the money, power and influence to push their assisted suicide obsession on vulnerable Scots.
MSPs face a binary choice on Tuesday: side with the powerful or stand up for the weak.
Nobody thinks this bill is safe. ๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ณ๓ ฃ๓ ด๓ ฟ

Not Disability groups.
Not doctors.
No one thinks itโs a good idea to let the NHS kill patients. ๐๐
๐จ๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ณ๓ ฃ๓ ด๓ ฟWow. Two-thirds of the Scottish public fear that citizens with learning difficulties such as Downโs Syndrome may be vulnerable to โcoercion or manipulation into assisted suicideโ under Liam McArthurโs bill:
New polling from Not Dead Yet UK shows nearly 7 in 10 (69%) of Scots agree that the Scottish Parliament should prioritise improving access to care for disabled people before considering whether to introduce assisted suicide.

The Royal College of Psychiatrists, the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, Association for Palliative Medicine and the Royal College of GPs do not agree with you.
It is beyond belief that you deem this bill to be safe when so many have decided it is the opposite.
๐จSO MUCH FOR A NARROW BILL FOR RARE CASES!
Pro-assisted suicide MSPs have just REJECTED an amendment that would have prevented people choosing to die because they feel a burden or are under undue influence or financial pressure. Profoundly concerning.
THIS IS DISGRACEFUL: Brian Whittle MSP (@BrianWhittle) says it is unacceptable that MSPs learned just a week before the final vote that parts of the Scottish assisted suicide Bill may not even be legally competent.
โกTRULY SHOCKING FROM AN ASSISTED SUICIDE SUPPORTER.
Supporter of the Scottish assisted suicide Bill Christine Grahame says that safeguards are just "clutter" in the legislation.
This is appalling.
