Informal group of staff at The Royal Central School of Speech & Drama committed to decolonizing both our institution & our disciplines. #LetsDecoloniseCentral
We recognise that our institution (with vast majority in UK HE) has been built on a legacy of colonial power & aligned with the interests of white, male supremacy. We are committed to working actively to subvert this legacy & challenge these interests wherever they are found...
'Complainants get exhausted and give up simply because there is no comprehension of what racism is. There is either outright denial, ‘gaslighting’ or minimising.' YES @PriyamvadaGopal https://t.co/ES6vJWmUZD
I honestly feel that my input as a student was manipulated in this "review" to paint the image that @CSSDLondon is anything but racist. I'm disappointed.
Hi @artsindustrymag, this report by @Halpin_HE found that about half of staff/students surveyed couldn't agree that racial discrimination is not tolerated at Central, or that race-related incidents would result in action from the school. How does that square with your headline?
Hi @SPRHoran, can you explain why you've linked to this piece that misrepresents both the remit and the findings of the @Halpin_HE race equality review? And why have you described your independent review of @CSSDLondon as a partnership with them?

“This university has not provided enough support, far from it. We have had enough; our occupation is a necessary last resort in the face of an institution that does not take racism seriously” https://t.co/ogqjXm8Tnv
'Education is a space in which the norms of whiteness are reinforced and reproduced. Outsiders who do not identify with these norms ('British values') are seen as a threat' (p.85). I will be discussing this next week in my keynote @CSSDLondon#equity

‘We know that nothing will change unless these initiatives are part of a comprehensive strategy for equality, diversity and inclusivity that is owned and driven by senior managers.’ We would go further: A COMPREHENSIVE STRATEGY FOR DECOLONIZING https://t.co/K1uY9kRRca
Question everything, make space, celebrate difference, unearth histories, collaborate, support initiatives, speak up and out, publish, point out omissions, listen to quiet voices, see humans moving, be tireless.....take action
“Access to education” and “equal representation” and “the struggle is worth wile” but still no access to Tier 4 students. #decolonisecentral#dearwhitecentral
