PETITION AGAINST SONY HIT OVER 30,000 SIGNATURES IN 48 HOURS.

Yesterday morning it was at 12,000. The backlash isn't cooling - it's compounding.

- It wasn't started by a fan: a game retailer launched it on behalf of the entire physical industry
- Sony's announcement post: 57,000 replies and 55,000 retweets, per Forbes - the biggest PlayStation scandal in 20 years
- Retailers mobilized: GAME launched #GamersUnidos in Spain, GameFly and GameStop issued statements defending physical
- PlayStation itself? Silent on every account for 24+ hours, per Push Square. Even the routine PS Plus post got skipped.

And Sony has folded before: the PS3 Store shutdown in 2021, the Helldivers 2 PSN mandate in 2024. Both reversed after revolts exactly like this one.

In one week, Sony wiped 550 purchased movies, condemned two storefronts, and killed the disc.
Turns out there's exactly one piece of digital content they can't delete.

Meta VS Sim Debates Back?

As someone who plays Meta AND Sim, My thoughts are simple.

- Meta will always win. Meta players prioritize competing and winning. If you want to win at a higher level in any game, you use the meta moves, guns, jumpshots, whatever to be at the advantage. These people find their enjoyment through winning and competing.

- Sim / off-meta play is also simple, the goal isnt to win but to play how you want to play. You'll be at a disadvantage but you dont care. You want to replicate NBA moves and have it look smooth like real life. or you want to play off meta to keep the game fresh or to be different. Either way youre at a disadvantage but thats okay. These people find enjoyment in being different, but they have to know the skill differences between them and those who play at a higher level.

- The real sauce is being able to play off meta with your own bag and beat those players playing meta. At the highest levels this is almost impossible. But 95% of us are not playing at that level. We love seeing unique playstyles play against each other. Or players doing unique things. So I wish uniqueness was pushed more in the community, without someone thinking they're better at the game than someone.

Either way, be honest with yourself, you're probably not beating the best players on the game. The best players deserve way more respect. They can beat you with meta moves or without them. The best players should be looked up to for how good someone could be at the game. Simple.
