Looking back as an adult, I think this may be one of the places where I learned something that followed me for years:

Don’t need anybody.

Because if you don’t need anyone, nobody can disappoint you.

Nobody can change their mind about you.

Nobody can take something you love away from you.

At least… that’s what I thought…
