I have moved on to other social media sites. Mr. Musk is clearly in over his head, and the readmission of people like Jordan Peterson and former President Trump are just too much for me. You can find me elsewhere at: https://t.co/s8Qq5NGlTX
That's like saying "there's nuance and complexity with the Congo Free State" — a little, sure, but not much.
The antisemitism mentioned in Union Square in January is absolutely unacceptable and deserved much more press coverage. I wish more details had been provided, I couldn't find news articles on this.
@antgoldbloom Where can I find other info about this Generation Lab survey? I can't find any other media that discusses it. The spreadsheet in Github says the last question was answered 11/27, but that's no help.
@OCwife@esjesjesj@cb_doge I thought Elon Musk wants government to be mostly hands-off, and for the market to decide things? Why is he upset if the market decides Twitter isn't very valuable?
He's so out of touch. Advertisers aren't pulling out because of ideological reasons, they're doing it to protect themselves based on cold business calculations.
If he wants to view himself as a martyr, then so be it. But don't expect the rest of the world to view things that way.
Jefferson had complicated views about slavery. From his own plantation's website:
"Thomas Jefferson wrote that 'all men are created equal,' and yet enslaved more than six-hundred people over the course of his life. Although he made some legislative attempts against slavery and at times bemoaned its existence, he also profited directly from the institution of slavery and wrote that he suspected black people to be inferior to white people ...
"He thought that white Americans and enslaved blacks constituted two 'separate nations' who could not live together peacefully in the same country.14 Jefferson’s belief that blacks were racially inferior and 'as incapable as children,'15 coupled with slaves’ presumed resentment of their former owners, made their removal from the United States an integral part of Jefferson’s emancipation scheme."
@Teresa_Beaucamp @BotFlexo @xxclusionary That's transphobia. "Assigned female at birth" is okay, though possibly irrelevant since we don't yet know if/how long he was on exogenous hormones at the time of the shooting.
@derek_laps@Fritschner@elonmusk Since when are companies run by democratic principles?
If I had a vote, I would have definitely voted No on Musk assuming control of Twitter.
@deege@michaelharriot Yup. Network folks and sysadmins are vested with huge amounts of power, but unless you're planning to abscond to Russia Snowden-style, there isn't much point in trying to abuse it. "Separation of duties" means it's hard to completely cover your tracks.
@michaelharriot I mean, engineers *can* be extremely spiteful (I heard of one who had a script play kmem roulette once a day after he left, resulting in bizarre impossible-to-reproduce failures), but most I've met want to avoid being arrested or sued.
