―『ARIRANG』では、BTSのヒップホップ・ルーツに立ち返るような感覚もあります。今回、どんなサウンドを目指していたのでしょうか？

RM：僕たちは2013年にBTSとしてデビューしました。『ARIRANG』は、僕たちにとっての新しいスタートです。その一方で、僕たちは無意識のうちにデビューしたころの熱っぽさや、「僕たちの実力を世界に見せてやる！」的なエネルギーに立ち返っていたのかもしれません。

「メンバー全員が、このアルバムにヒップホップのスタイルを盛り込むことを強く意識していました。『ARIRANG』にはさまざまなジャンルの楽曲が収められていますが、ヒップホップのルーツを忘れたことはなかったと思います」（Pdogg）

―リードシングル「SWIM」は、静かな曲でありながら強い存在感を放っています。

RM：いまの僕たちには、この曲が合っています。だって僕たちは、兵役という経験値を積んでよりセクシーになったのですから。

「前から私は、落ち着いた雰囲気の曲を歌っているBTSがいちばんかっこいいと思っていました。『Dynamite』のような曲をまた作ったとしても、何の新鮮味もありません」（ジェームズ・エッシェン）

―一方で「Hooligan」は、かなり攻めたサウンドですね。

Jung Kook：このトラックを聴いた瞬間、すぐに全体のフロウが頭に浮かびました。アルバムに収録されるかどうかはわかりませんでした。でも、選ばれたんです。最高でしたね。
